But the Bruins showed why they're championship quality tonight. They prevent the other team from scoring as well as anyone in the league (actually, the Pens and Hawks are similar teams and the Bruins and Kings are similar teams, which I find interesting). They were a lot more composed tonight than the Penguins.

Congrats Bruins fans. Hopefully, you'll be congratulating me next time. :suds:

Why, you getting another degree? :laugh3:

So does Cooke get suspended?

no.

his shoulda been a minor, as was marchands
but when they called his a major, letting marchand off the hook was a big mistake.
this series will get ugly, and it's directly because of that.

btw - Cooke is NOT a repeat offender under the Shanaban rules.
it has an 18 month window, and he hasn't been disciplined in 2 years.

Really?

If that was a Sedin you would be calling for blood.

Curious why?

He is not only a repeat offender he he is basically the main reason the rule was put in place.

I see where you are coming from since it was a major and game misconduct but the reason I doubt it was due to the fact it should have been a minor and not a major.

Thats funny in a way. Cooke is a cheap shot player. Do I really have to link you tube vids of all the crap he has done?

the main point is - they are both majors or they are both minors.
even though they were both hits full into the numbers, the reason that i would lean towards minors is

- on the Cooke one, the player saw him coming and turned into the boards anyways
- on the marchand one, it was not angled directly into the boards as to be less dangerous.

yes, it surprised me too.
cooke and marchand are both dangerous players, and if it were up to me I would wish to see neither of them ever in the nhl again

I think in this entire short season Marchand had 21 PIMs

Blogs, hah. Vokoun did not have a bad game. The last 2 goals were the result of the team going into desperation mode trying to solve Rask in the 3rd.

Pens seemed to have a plan to get at Rask with east-west passing, but the Bruins did a good job of clogging the passing lanes, keeping the puck in front of Rask for him to make the save.

I also now understand the meaning of the Bruins spoke emblem...it is shaped like a bullseye so that the shooter's subconscious aims for the chest. :D

Matt Cooke

2011-2012 82 Games 44 PIMs
2013 48 Games 36 PIMs

Tonight he reverted back to his thug game and hurt the Penguins, but for the last 2 years he has been playing alot cleaner game.

It was 36 to 27 Cooke to Marchand with players like them it is not the number of penalties is the way they play we all remember.

Hell last year Cooke only had 44 PIMs while playing all 82 but he was still a hated player.
