The Pats really needed Bennet but they choked that deal. They got the mediocre back up player instead :)
Two totally different players. One is a run blocking DT/NT while the other is an perpetual offside machine DE. Thanks for playing.

That’s true ... but may I add? One is a member of the long list of busts from the Browns and the other is a SB champion with multiple pro bowl invitations who also was one of the top players in the NFL and pressuring the QB.

One is much younger and healthier. It's not as if NE has resurrected a career or two or three.

So you’d rather have a 26 year old bust then a 32 year old star.

PFF has shelton as 35th best interior, and 19th against the run............not stud, but certinaly no bust

I see what you are saying but for where he was drafted at he is considered a bust.

I think it's a decent deal for both teams, but a little sweeter for the Pats. Browns weren't re-signing Shelton with their deep and young DL and the Pats just straight up need bodies right now. The Browns problems on D don't really have that much to do with their DL, imo. Some are going to whine and say the Browns should have gotten a 2nd or something, but Shelton has been on the block for over a year, teams have known Shelton is not long for the Browns for a while and the browns probably aren't contending for anything while he's under contract.

Yeah, he really does 1 thing, but he's generally pretty good at it. That has value in the NFL. Not a lot of prime Dontari Poes out there who just obliterate your team in the run and pass game. (Vita Vea looks the part though)

Well my $0.02 on this. He cost the Pats very little as it relates to over all cap, he is younger with some talent and it was a position of need. Nothing electric about this signing but I think he will help the Pats.

Cleveland should "Costanza" this draft.

Just make a numbered list of all the signees you want.

Put all that shit into a hat. When you're on the clock, reach into the hat and pick one out at random.

Couldn't fucking hurt.

The pats are hit & miss with these type of moves.

Good move by the Browns to get something for him. He just isn't the guy he was projected to be. Why keep him around for another season if you don't plan to resign him? Hit the reset button & fill his roster spot with someone else who is hopefully more productive.

He is a decent middle guy in a 3-4 scheme. Pretty good run stuffer, but that's about it and he is a poor fit for the 4-3 scheme they currently run. Good business decision to let him go and get something for him.
