The best situation is for the GM and coach to work together to get the best product on the field. They should be coworkers, not one in position of authority over the other IMO. One buys the groceries, the other does the cooking. Neither is effective if not in accordance with the other.

Agreed. But this is the Browns. Haslam's the worst owner in the league. And I wouldn't be surprised if they make the mistake of naming McDaniels the next HC.

Sure, they don't have the best track record. They already missed out on the guy I thought should've been their target (Rivera). They need a no-nonsense guy to keep those egos in line and focused. We've already seen what McDaniels can do outside of the Patriots (and you certainly don't want him picking players).

Dave Toub was a hot name a few years back until the Chiefs made him assistant head coach. He's a leader type without being strictly an offensive or defensive guy and has been under the radar since. I'm curious as to what he could do.

Of course, being an Ohio team means that Urban Meyer will be in the rumors (for better or worse, tough to tell coming from college, but he at least is a local favorite). I don't think Cowher will ever return to coaching at this point. Maybe you can lure foot specialist Rex Ryan out of the booth? There's always the usual crop of strong coordinators, but the concept of getting the hot OC/DC who's already brand new at that level is very hit/miss, and the head coaching job essentially takes them out of the role they're excelling in.

Cowher. Now I'd love it if he was the next coach. But I don't see that happening either. I'm not a fan of NFL teams hiring CFB coaches with zero NFL experience. But I'd rather have Meyer than McDaniels.

My fear is it's the Browns. And I can see that idiot Haslam making the wrong coaching & GM hire.

I hear you. I had the same fear with the Bills and Rams, but both seem to have chosen wisely for now.

NY resolution? What I said about Redick was before the New Year. But just ignore that like you usually do. And the distant past? That was this season. Yet another thing you've ignored.
post 19133 in nba offseason thread from me to you, wiggy and shane. My first post after the Seattle game.

"did any of you hear Freddy's presser? Specifically, his explanation on the end of half debacle? He'd have been better off just saying he F'd up.

I lose more faith in him by the minute. If there's something anyone can point to he's done that offers encouragement to you please fill me in."

sure looks like I defended his playcalling, huh? Maybe this is why I correctly believe you have a real tough time admitting you are wrong.

You thought a RB coach had his own playbook. Sorry I keep repeating this, but that is hilarious.

I do get the fan angst here, but they are ignoring something you mentioned. Working TOGETHER. In the past when both reported to owner here they were forced on each other.

Other thing they ignore is Haslem has shown with Dorsey (and even Banner) he will let the guy in charge do his job....problem was he had the wrong guy in charge. Has to get it right this time.

all it takes. Pretty sure Rams were a disaster for a while until they finally found the right coach, correct (since Warner/Faulk for the post part)?

Can you repeat that again? I just don't care anymore. I'll say what you wanna hear. You've never been wrong about anything. Is that better?

Although in typical fashion you won't say anything about your defense of Hunt. Why? Because you're never wrong.

Congrats. You were actually right about something. First time for eveything. I've admitted my errors. Funny that you can't (defending Hunt in that hotel).

You saw his comments and said "don't tell me, tell dt"

why say that if you didn't believe him?
Did I have to say I did or didn't believe him? He quoted me on a subject you were pushing. I just saw that as a conversation he needed to address to you. Again all I said about Bakers coaches was who his head coaches were, I never addressed who were calling his plays. If you can find where I said squat about his play callers I'll apologize.

translation - "ya got me again"

And I have admitted I defended the signing of Hunt and, yes, did not think what he did should have resulted in him never working again. This is my opinion.

You made a factual error and/or just made up what I said about Freddie after the Seattle game. Only took 3 months to almost admit you were wrong.

And the RB coach with his own playbook? Post of the Year Material(early, I know, and you have time to top it)...and someone believed you.

Yep, the painfully underwhelming Jeff Fisher era that followed stop-gaps like Linehan and Spagnuolo. Vermeil/Martz were the previous Super Bowl era.

Fair enough...my apologies.

You ignore who calls the plays, though. It matters. And, yes, Baker's attitude will matter, as well, as I've agreed on that the entire time. But the kid could have had a perfect attitude and been a pro's pro, and in Freddie's offense no lock he'd have been successful. The guy was told what works and what doesn't and he ignored it.

Not talking about the signing of Hunt. I was talking about you defending him in that hotel incident. But you already know that as I made that clear in more than one comment.

You're so stubborn you refuse to acknowledge what I was saying. Instead changing the subject yet again.

translation- I will never admit I was wrong about anything

Seriously how can you take me talking about that hotel insident, not even say anything about it, and bring up a totally different topic?

Oh yeah one more thing. I didn't said Hunt should never work again. You claimed I said that after his 1 a.m. bar issue. That's when I said it wouldn't surprise me if he had another off the field issue. Glad he didn't have one though.

I do get the angst toward Haslem here. Not lost on me he has failed so far. But I think if he believes he has the right people in charge he will let them do their job (he did with Banner and Dorsey). And finding 2 guys who can work well together will be a start

You cried about signing him. I claimed it wasn't so bad he never deserved to work again. I was referring to....say it with me.....the hotel incident.

Also said if things went South with him he'll be released. Never did and never was.

I never cried about it. All I said was I didn't like the signing due to that off the field issue that got him suspended. Just another example of you making stuff up so you can tell yourself you're always right.

That's how it got started. You complained about the signing because of his act. I said not so bad he didn't deserve to work again. No risk. If he has any more issues they can release him. You didn't seem to understand this..at least now you do.

But I agreed there was no risk. You had an issue with me saying I had concerns about future off the field issues. Never once did I say he should never play again. You really need to stop making stuff up.

Funny after getting caught - again - of making up what I said after the Seattle game.

You are priceless, and I appreciate the comedy you provide.

And I had an issue with you worried about future off field issues? If by saying "if he does, then they can release him. No risk"? Sure.

I admitted I was wrong about that Freddie issue. Yet that's still not good enough for you. Funny you made your own reality up about my thoughts of the Hunt signing though. Yet you won't acknowlegde that. Or how you won't say anything about your defense of him in that hotel.
