Broncos vs. Jags -28 point spread.

I genuinely don't care about the spread. I don't bet on games, and point spreads have more to do with generating equal action on both sides of the bet than they do actual performance. Obviously there is some statistical analysis that goes into a spread because there is a degree of expectation formed based on past performances, but the goal is not to be accurate so much as entice equal action.

The only spread I care about is the spread between six wins and zero losses. Of lesser priority to me, but still something I'd like to see this week is the defense having a good performance. If they give up 20+ points to the Jaguars I think we may have cause for concern. I hope they don't allow any garbage time scores this week. They've given up a lot of garbage points already, but then the Cowboys came in and rung them for 48 legitimate meaningful points. While I am not going to panic over one bad performance, I really want to see the defense rebound and completely shut down a team. The Jaguars are the perfect team to play this week for this reason.

This is exactly what I'm looking for as well. A solid four quarters of defense from the Broncos, no injuries and a 6-0 start to our season. Go Broncos!!

I must say, I am developing some respect for the amount of professionalism the Jaguars players have exhibited over the hype going into this game. This is a stark contrast to some of the chirping we heard out of Dallas last week. Jaguars players have been asked about the spread and they each turn the discussion on what they have to do to win the game and block out the noise. They are all saying the right things and not blaming anyone but themselves for their team being 0-5.

That is a team that is just not in very good shape. But part of building a team is building a mindset. It seems they are off to a good start, at least on that front.

It's hard to tell if the Jags are just up for this game or if the Broncos have come out flat. It's probably a combination of both. The Broncos certainly are not having their best game, that's for sure. The Jags have forced two consecutive 3 and outs. Not good.

No matter what they have said, the Broncos played down to the Jags today. It couldn't be more obvious with the way our guys are dropping passes, Offensive linemen are not following through and have allowed a few hits on Manning, and even Manning himself coughed up a fumble.

We caught a break on special teams, costing the Jags an easy 3 points. Oh, then a pick-6. Broncos played down, no doubt.

It's one half. Let's see if the Broncos can make some adjustments in the locker room. The coaches should be preaching about taking any and every opponent seriously at this point. This team looks like absolute garbage right now and it's not like they are playing a quality opponent this week.

Long term this is good. The Broncos can still win this game and improve to 6-0. But the last two weeks they have looked beatable. Hopefully this is a big wakeup call.

What makes last week different is they played a capable opponent on the road. This week they don't have that excuse. I'll withhold judgment until I see how they respond in the second half. There may be cause for concern or the team may have just started slow against a bad opponent. There's a lot of game left.
