Yes! Very nice.....for those not watching bases loaded on three straight singles and satly hits to 3rd. Throw home for one and to first for double play.
May not have been the prettiest game, but right now we're tied for the best record in the Majors.
I know 2 runs isn't a lot, but I really liked what I listened to/watched today.
Teheran pitched 6 strong innings, things got hairy in the 7th, but the bullpen was perfect. Key double play, a weak pop up and bases loaded with no outs turns into 0 runs for the Marlins, and at that point, I knew we had the game won. Jim Johnson and Jason Grilli both looked strong today with mid 90's heat.
And the Marlins bull pen struck out 6 of our hitters in a row, but until that little run, we had only struck out once in the first 6 and 2/3 innings, and that go ahead run was a perfect image of what we couldn't do last season.
How many times were leadoff doubles stranded at second last season? A sac bunt and a groundout=manufactured run.
Nice Braves debuts for Eric Young Jr, who had the leadoff double and scored the go ahead run, Jace Peterson who scored the first run, had a key sac bunt to move EYJ to third and helped Simmons turn a nice DP, Nick Markakis who drove in both runs today, Jim Johnson who went 1.1 perfect innings in relief and Jason Grilli who had a 1-2-3 9th for the save.
And only getting better farm syaem wen from 29 to 10th in the off season. Some have us as high as 5th best. And we have five of the first 75 picks in the draft.... #openingdayoptimism
