Some really exciting bowls the past couple of days - yesterday’s games were all good, Oklahoma/Navy was a thriller and this GA Tech/Vandy game in Birmingham is very good. I think tonight and tomorrow will have more good bowls.

And before that 5 OT’s in the Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve! How can you not love bowl season, lots of madness!

Yes, that one. The operative word being LOST. Had they made the 2 point conversion and won, Navy still played more competitively than Alabama. And at the time Alabama was playing to lock up a spot in the playoff. Not much more motivation than that to play well.

I’ll be honest, I liked bowl season a lot more when it was still BCS rankings before the CFP came to be.

I don’t know what it was, the aura of bowl season just seemed different during that time to me, more exciting. BCS system was imperfect sure, but it’s not perfect now either.

Also just saw on ticker in nerd bowl that Greg Gumbel died, RIP.

SIX overtimes was a monster

Two-point conversions would equal to free throws deciding a basketball game. I would opt for 6 minute overtimes, same rules as regulation but with 1 timeout and a running clock. About the same amount of time one overtime takes now but other than the running clock it would be less "gimmiky". If still tied, play continues for another 6 minutes but as if was the end of a quarter. Think of the strategy. Two seconds left, You are on the 35, 2nd down.
Do you try the field goal to end the game, or let the clock run out, and start the next quarter, knowing that if you score the other team will have some time to tie or win.

Bowl picks (December 28th)

So I tried to analyze all 5 bowl games yesterday, and I went 2-3. You guys wanna know what I'm gonna do with the 8 bowl games going on today? Oh, I'll pick them... but I'm gonna do it with my brain turned off.
That's right! No analysis, no waffling, it'll be just my gut feeling making these picks. So here's what I think will happen today (All times are Eastern):

Pinstripe Bowl [12:00, ABC]
BOSTON COLLEGE over Nebraska 24-20

New Mexico Bowl [2:15, ESPN]

Pop-Tarts Bowl [3:30, ABC]
MIAMI over Iowa State 37-30

Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl [4:30, CW]
COLORADO STATE over Miami-Ohio 28-21

NC STATE over East Carolina 31-28

COLORADO over BYU 40-33

I never really understood USC's offense this year. They had a really good running game, but it felt like Riley was hesitant to lean into it or just really quick to abandon it. Only three regular season games with 30+ carries. On the other hand, they had three games with 50+ pass attempts and another game with 49 (ND)... they lost all four of those games

Doesn't have the arm strength of Miller Moss, but he ran a nice 2 minute drill.

(I don't think Riley understands the offensive substitution rules though, they've been screwing that up all season).

I was at the game last night. A&M wanted to lose it more than USC did.
It was Jeckle and Hyde with the USC QB. #6 on USC is a baller.
