If I were Stoops, I would be a bit more subdued. After yesterday, he is 5-7-1 in bowls games against SEC opponents. Would it be too much to ask that he refrain from commitments until he manage to actually has more wins than losses?

Screw that, if I was 1-12-2 and that one win just came off this years Bama, I'd be talking shit too.

He's answering questions asked of him, and what he's saying isn't that bad.

Basing this off many of your posts, I could see this as being a true statement

Conference power comes in cycles.

During the BCS era, the SEC has had the most success, outside of a couple runs from individual teams like Miami and USC.

The SEC has had a great run, but I think time is running out. I feel like the B1G has a chance to return to the top conference.[/QUOTE]

The BIG? Are you kidding me? That conference has been down for a long time and Michigan State is the only all around great team this year. You have to do better than this man, Their bowls speak for themselves this year. Plus there isnt that much talent in the midwest.

The same Michigan State that needed 3 turnovers inside Nebraska 10 yard line and 2 others inside the Nebraska 30 to barely win? 5-0 Turnover margin and barely squeaked out a win. A Michigan State team that easily handled heavily favored Stanford.

Quit being ignorant. All of your bowl games were lopsided picks set to make you look better. Nebraska beat Georgia. Iowa stayed right up with LSU, and Wisconsin played right up with USCar. Let's not forget that "unbeatable" Alabama lost to a team that got ABSOLUTELY CRUSHED by Baylor and lost to a lousy Texas team this year. Auburn needed a fluke to beat a crippled Georgia team that lost to a crippled Nebraska team and they are in the BCSNC game. FSU is likely set to dominate Auburn and embarrass your entire conference.

When exactly has the B1G ever been the top conference?

The 1940s?

But you keep telling us how over-rated SEC teams are all year...which is it? Are these pretty even matchups, or do the SEC teams actually deserve those rankings?

well I think on paper the #3 team should fare well vs #11. what would happen had Alabama played a Clemson or Oregon. if your gamecocks played ohio st or Baylor instead of a team ranked 10 spots behind them. I will be interested to see if the same amount of sec teams are forced on us in sept. in rankings or if some of these losses will show up. as of now I don't see more than 2 or 3 teams worth of being top 15

All I'm trying to say is that either 1. The SEC is overrated or 2. The B1G is underrated

It's probably a mix of the 2 though. I can't wait until the playoff but wish they would expand it to be more than 4 teams.

Well i can see Bama not being ranked highly due to its loss and the loss of many key players. Bama will be in a rebuild year losing AJ, CJ and a few others that are very key to what Bama has done for the past few years.

As for Georgia, they were not ranked high to end the year and should not be ranked high due to a similar situation losing some key players and basically rebuilding. Thats the only TWO losses thus far that could be used against us, so not sure what "some of these losses" needs to show up other than those as of this writing.

well that wasn't directed at Alabama but the sec as a whole. I thought some of the losses in last years bowl games should have shown up in preseason rankings ..lsu and florida both losing bowl games. to us non sec fans theres a bias given to sec teams...example Missouri went from being unranked to top 5 in like 3 weeks. not so sure you get that in any other conference. even still if a team like florida is unranked like I think they should be. the way the bias works is if they beat Idaho, Eastern Michigan, and Kentucky...they will be vaulted into top 25 like they beat some great teams....and that formula exists for all unranked sec teams..

Bama has recruited lights out the last 5 to 6 years.

Who will enter the draft early to keep the ball from rolling further along? I don't see Bama falling off any time soon with Saban in charge, and the monster recruiting machine he has built in Tuscaloosa.

(Fuck it, site won't paste, but google 2014 Early Bird college football and you'll a very very early preview for next year.)

I see Bama with a solid Top 5 ranking in the pre-season, and see no reason to believe why they won't end up being one of the major contenders yet again in 2014.

Did anybody notice the setup of every bowl game the SEC is in?
#22 Georgia vs (NR) Nebraska
#21 Texas A&M vs #24 Duke
#16 LSU vs (NR) Iowa
#9 South Carolina vs #19 Wisconsin
#8 Missouri vs. #13 Oklahoma State
#3 Alabama vs. #11 Oklahoma
(NR) Mississippi St. vs. (NR) Rice
(NR) Ole Miss vs. (NR) Georgia Tech
#2 Auburn vs. #1 Florida State

seems to me they are set up to look good in every game outside of title game...a lot of uneven matchups rankings wise...

Plus most of those games are played in the deep South too.

:L

here we go...

The SEC has some good teams and some not so good.
The B12 has some good teams and some not so good.
The ACC has some good teams and some not so good.
The B1G has some good teams and some not so good.
The PAC has some good teams and some not so good.

See a pattern? What needs to change is preseason rankings. They set the pattern for later. Yeah, the SEC has won 7 in a row. When the deck is stacked, makes it not as difficult. Same reason Vegas has some really nice casinos. If the other conferences want preferential treatment, they need to unseat the SEC. IMO, I think the conferences are much more even this year than years past. One can't just look at the Bowl results.....when you have a decent ranked team playing one not so much ranked, not really an accurate assessment. The BCS bowls have been interesting however. 3 upsets thus far. The B1G beats the PAC. The AA beats the B12. The B12 beats the SEC. Will the ACC beat the B1G tonight? The SEC trw?

I see why Stoops said what he said. Wants folks to realize the SEC are human. However, makes for BB material. Worked in OU's favor this time, but lets not generalize too much.

This is just fucking stupid and revisionist history. Teams were just injured in the SEC and the defenses weren't that good this year. This doesn't take away all of the accomplishments the SEC has had from previous years.

that part of you thesis just doesn't fly. The rest of it is valid.

So you missed the fact that OU had it's share of injuries too. Come to think of it, most teams in the Big 12 had injury issues as well.

Alabama loses only 4 every down players and both special team kickers.

AJ McCarron QB
CJ Mosley LB
Anthony Steen RG (injured for Sugar Bowl)
Kevin Norwood WR

The question is who else declares? Does Clinton Dix or Kouandjio. Also, can they find a QB? Losing Cade Foster at kicker will be addition by subtraction. Depends on QB play. With Henry playing more at RB and maybe Saban's best recruiting class coming in this could be a powerhouse team and one of their best. QB? QB? QB? Intangibles are always unknown. Leadership?

Plus Alabama's offense doesn't really require some stud at QB.
