But the guy is a perennial DPOY candidate and allstar staple.

They lost the game at the centerman spot.
Whiteside chewed up their backup center. I am not willing to concede that happens versus Howard.

And Blowing big leads into blowout losses is not that uncommon in the NBA.
Heck the Spurs have done it twice in the same playoff series I believe.

I didn't give any Lakers fans crap when Howard left LA. I knew he didn't have it in him to be a leader to win a title since his days in Orlando. I thought the trade LA made to get Howard at the time was bad (although I was a huge fan of Bynum at the time ,and we saw how that played out).
