This should be cool, since Kane usually seems to defer to Toews when they are together. Skills competition, 3 on 3, should be some exciting tv.

Maybe the NFL can take some notes to change up their game.

TSN poll: Coaches vote Patrick Kane as NHL's best player

nice recognition by the hockey coaches, Nashville fans are being awful towards Kaner. Guess he deserves it since there is a new social media story written by a girl who went to a hockey bar after a game, sat outside since they were wearing next to nothing dresses, ended up claiming to be fingerbanged by Kane in the ladies room.

It messed with his head in the skills competition.

East is taking the first game, so second game will probably start 4:45 or so since the deal ends at 6:30

big sweede on his way back again. dont know if its more of this sickness getting passed around or spacing games for scud and rosie. I thought he surprised alot of people that said he cant skate his first go around, but he was mostly paired with Seabs, but that was also when Seabs was playing all star caliper hockey.

Teuvo will start the game centering the first line tonight with Toews suspended. Will be really interesting, mostly Danault was centering that line when Toews did not return to the last game.

I really thought Teuvo played well, Svedberg too, with a big block at the end of the game. Fourth line only played about 8 minutes, I heard Krueger is ahead of schedule, probably 2 weeks away. Hope they can get him enough time to heal though, needs those wrists strong for the faceoffs on the PK.

wow, that was a fun game in Arizona. Terrible officiating crew, Hoss robbed of a goal in the first, yotes answer back with a goal, then two in 9 seconds, back to a tie and a rush started by Panarin slashing a stick out of an arizona players hand to start the final rush for the tazer 5th OT winner. Do they call that ice pond justice in hockey?

Keep posting AI. I do read this stuff (eventually).
The overtime vs the Yotes was awesome.
Would be great to get Big Buff back, but the guy is an all-star. Which means (to me) that some club will overpay for him as a RFA.

spanked the stars, two short handed goals, wow. so that makes 15 out of last 18. Yeah, what Buff did was what Bickell wont do and thats consistently get ass in face of the goaltender in the playoffs. When Bickell did it he earned a 4/16 contract and really never did it again, I think he seriously gets dizzy from all the cross checks in the back being at the net.

I dont think the hawks will get Buff back, dont think they need him either, but watching last night, you realize there are basically 4 new centers on this team, with Rasmussen, Anisimov and Danault, first backup is Teuvo, who is really getting Hoss like on defense. I know Krueger is coming back so one of Rasmussen or Danault will be back down, but after watching some of those power moves with Danault going thru the entire 5 guys on defense for Dallas, I know he has the edge. But its Bowmans way to get another vet or 4 to move the kids back to rockford, so I will not be surprised when it happens. They only get 950K cap relief for Bickell in Rockford.

According to multiple sources, Hawks are still having conversations with Tampa about a deal. No confirmation on whether or not it involves Drouin.

Bowmans gotta make deals, he cant go long without it. Just cant see getting a "head case" that will be delegated to third or fourth line. Red wings and Blues are both supposedly in on the conversation, you would think Tampa would want him out of the conference and the hawks want to keep him away from st louis.

Buff should end up in california, LA is in big, Anaheim started asking and Dallas also interested.

Buff signs extension with Winnepeg, wow. biggest salary cap hit for a d man. Is there any chance they were negotiating for their trade partner to get a better prospect in return?

Any interest in bringing Ladd back as a Vermette-type rental?

I dont know how they can fit his 4.5 million here unless someone goes on LTIR. I dont think they would make a deal that big with whats left of the core. They want Krueger back quick so even putting him on LTIR would not free up enough if they claim his wrist is not ready. It would take the entire third and part of the fourth lines to go to afford him.

Dont get me wrong, I would really like to see Ladd back here, I guess they are looking at him as more of that wing for Toews and Hossa other than a center this time around and prorating the salary to mid season I guess they have room by just moving players back to rockford like Manshinter or Rasmussen, but both are doing pretty well. I guess the fear is losing Toews or Anisimov to injury and not having an experienced center ready to step in. I wish they could have found a way to keep him around after the first cup he helped the hawks win.

Blogger rumors, for what they're worth:

The Hawks are OUT on Jonathan Drouin.

The player the Hawks have been most interested in, and remain interested in (as first reported here several weeks ago), is Arizona speed winger Mikkel Boedker. Arizona continues to try to re-sign Boedker, whose salary demands—to stay in Arizona—are $5-5.5 million per season.

The Hawks would like to trade for and sign Boedker at an average salary of around $4-4.5 million per season on a slightly shorter term–—say four years. I know, the salary math doesn’t add up personally for Boedker—except rumor has it he is interested in signing a team with legitimate Cup chances (not to mention greater endorsement opportunities).

I have also heard that the gymnastics of a trade and signing Boedker for a lower price are looking increasingly dim for the Hawks.

A possible fallback here, I am told, is Calgary’s Jiri Hudler.

The Hawks have spoken with Winnipeg about Andrew Ladd (price too high for a rental) and . . . inquired about the price for Dustin Byfuglien.

The Hawks spoke with Toronto, Carolina and Vancouver, allegedly, about offloading Bryan Bickell, even taking a bad contract in return. All talks “did not progress.”

In addition to Winnipeg’s Ben Chiarot, another defenseman the Hawks might make a move on is the Islanders’ Brian Strait. Definitely seems the profile they are looking for on D is steady, low maintenance, 4-6 quality depth.

Finally, though many have placed an “interwebs epitaph” on Marcus Kruger’s career in Chicago, “he will not be leaving, period.”

Same with Andrew Shaw.

The odd man out as far as the bottom six could be Dennis Rasmussen, who the Hawks and other teams like, but the “trade-off” is seen by the Hawks as being between Rasmussen and Philip Danault (who they like better), not Danault and Kruger. Rasmussen could be part of a package moved to add at the deadline.

I think they brought McNeil up for that game to show scouts what he might do in the nhl, I expect him to be moved as well. I think they showed Svedberg can play with a good partner and if they are signing another D man you figure he could be leaving although he really has done nothing to show he does not belong here. Gustaffson has shown he can carry the puck directly up the ice as well so if they are adding you figure they will be subtracting as well. There is alot of talent in Rockford that the hawks should be forced to be using, but they are somehow finding a way to get the names. Maybe next year when Seabs contract kicks in and Panarin needs to sign what they hope is a bridge contract that may be more. Just hate to see them giving away some of this talent.

as far as last night, terrible start again, impossible angle goal thru about the size of the puck hole to start the game, then lapses defensively and Crow a tick slow. At least they showed fight, but it looks like Panarin is as hard to replace as Saad has been on the top line.
