I'm unfamiliar with McQuaid - What got him on the list?

McQuaid, 26, had two surgeries in September because of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, which was causing blood clots to form, including one that caused his right arm to swell. One procedure removed the blood clot from his arm, while another saw the removal of a rib and some of the muscle on the right side of his neck. The operations were successful, but left McQuaid unable to work out and on blood thinners.

Thought to be a season-ending injury, McQuaid instead recovered enough to return to the ice in December and was cleared to join the Bruins' opening-day roster. He a goal, three assists and 60 penalty minutes in 32 games, but the games he had to sit out were not related to the Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

Harding should win this.

You have to wonder if Crosby even wants the league fawning all over him like this. I mean, yeah he had a concussion. And that sucks. But one guy is playing with a debilitating disease, and the other needed surgeries to keep blood clots from KILLING HIM.

I've seen what MS does to a body. And I respect the dickens out of anyone who fights it. It is truly a living hell.

I actually posted on my Facebook that it's nice that Sid got nominated, but Harding deserves it the most. Didn't know much about McQuad's situation at that time.

Don't let that description of Thoracic Outlet make you think it's life threatening. Maybe for like a 90 year old.

All that said, it's Harding and it's not even close. Other two may win it in another year, but uh...no.

You could also make a strong case for Erik Karlsson - According to reports, he rehabbed like a madman to get back to playing this season.

/But yes, MS is a bitch, give it to Harding.

Um, blood clots ARE life threatening...

Yes, they can be depending on location, etc. Not trying to minimize that, but thoracic outlet isn't anywhere near the spectrum of horrifying injuries. The summary they showed made it seem a bit rougher than it is.
