What's ironic about our BP is we literally have 5 guys who on a given night could close.

1-3 run lead with 3 outs. Texas has Dyson, Bush, Diekman, Kela, Jeffress, and Barnette, who are all more than capable of handling the task on any given night. Well we will have Jefress again soon hopefully.

It's because all of the solo jacks this year. He's given up most of his runs on those I believe.

Actually I'd forgotten about Jeffress. Unfortunately, MLB hasn't. ha

Looked it up. 14 of his 19 homers allowed have been solo homers. 14 ER with bases empty of the 50 total ER. It's not most, but it's a good chunk of a his runs allowed.

I'm aware of who is in the bullpen. My point was that I don't have the confidence in the "5 guys who could close on any given night" concept.

Dyson, Diekman, and Kela have not been inspiring to me recently.

Kela and Dyson were pretty damn inspiring last night. All relievers are only as good as their last outing though. I don't expect them to implode when brought into a low leverage situation like 3 runs, but it happens sometimes.

And wasn't Jake also a night or two earlier. I agree with the concept that we have guys who can close on any given night. I do have reservations how and when Banister uses them. i.e. Jake three nights in a row is nuts.

Yeah, there is no reason to be using any of these guys three nights in a row.

I can't remember if it was 2010 or 2011 but bringing Mike Adams in to be that 8th inning guy really helped solidify that bullpen. Just saying sometimes going by "roles" can really work.

Based on how shaky Sam is most of the time, i'd say we easily have 5 guys that could do it.

True but Mike could just as easily have closed. That is the point Rev is making. Not all pens have the number of quality relievers as we.

His sinker was ridiculous last night. If he can stick to that pitch he will be fine. That was the best he's looked.

And ya know what's even stranger about this? Banister said before the game he didn't want to "have to use" him. So why did he? WTF?
