The rules state there must be 12 teams minimum for a conference championship. We only got 10 with no really good teams to add. B12 is in a pickle. Adding BYU and UCF are the only legitimate options. But geographically that's a disaster.

Obviously, the conference is pissing in the wind trying to convince the CFB world that playing 9 conference games without a CCG is the way to go.
The 'one true champion' slogan was a huge fail this year; even if everything fell their way, and the conf got two teams into the playoff (which was a possibility) the slogan would be a fail.
Rolling BYU's TV deal in with the Big 12's deal will help with finances. What really needs to happen is take the LHN and BYU's deal and roll them into a conference network you'll have to guarantee Texas a certain payout but it's the best thing for the conferences long term health.
this actually sounds like a logical idea.
the only problem to it is they want to get into Florida. Imagine the time-zone shifting nightmare that would cause.
I think UCF is a school that would jump at the chance to get in a P5 conference, need to just find a partner. Or else full scale armageddon, three/four time zones get them all. I dont know.
Hell, the BIG just added two shitty teams and it didn't seem to hurt them.

that's a good point.
But those teams added a lot of money too. Who can the Big12 add that would bring in the money/TV sets? Maybe the Orlando market, UCF? The BYU mormon market?

It is about helmets not CCG. It was once about worst loss. Now it's about CCG. It's really about
