Personally I'd put Derrick Thomas over Lambert, but DT was one of the best I've ever seen play, while Lambert is just a name I've heard of but never actually saw play.

Ryan's a good NFL QB, but nothing really special. I guess I just assumed there were better options at 2.

Kind of slim pickings;

2 — David Akers
Akers led the NFL in scoring for an entire decade, posting 1,169 points from 2000–09. As a result, he was named to the second team of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-2000s roster. He ranks 11th all-time in career points (1,721).

#37 Shaun Alexander could make a case for being a better #37 than Jimmy Johnson too.

Jimmy Johnson was a better player at cornerback than Shaun Alexander was at running back....a very underrated corner who rarely got recognized until SF had a decent team. He's #37.

These two came down basically to a tie with me. But SA did win league MVP so I figure that gave him the edge.

Lester Hayes wore #37 as well....For a few years he was one of the best in the business......Ball seemed to stick to his hands like glue.....

Jimmy Johnson is also in the HOF. Alexander was pretty good, but I don't think he's HOF bound.

#78 was a tough call. That could have easily gone to Anthony Munoz.

#12--Terry Bradshaw, Roger Staubach, Bob Griese, Ken Stabler, Joe Namath, Jim Kelly, etc. 12 is a pretty popular number. However, I'm not suggesting all of these guys are worthy of the best to wear it, but some could be in the discussion.

Sure. A bunch of great QBs but Brady's still at the top of the list for many obvious reasons.

Don’t matter, Aaron Donald will have that number reserved in the future.

Jason Taylor= 3 time first team All Pro, DPOY
Warren Sapp = 4 time first team All Pro, DPOY
Aaron Donald = 3 time first team All Pro, DPOY in 4 seasons

JJ Watt = 4 time first team All Pro, 3X DPOY is the best #99. Donald better get at least another DPOY before he's even in the conversation.

Benny Friedman is a hall of fame QB, wore 6. Considered the first great passing QB. Played for the Giants among other teams.

So get Cutler the fuck out of there, please. That's just ignorant.

Similarly, hall of fame QB-RB Charley Trippi wore 2. He was the QB for the Cardinals when they won their last NFL title in 1947.

Well if you want to go back to the day's of Jesus, I guess this works.
