I didn't overlook Joe Morgan. I think he had an outstanding career. I just seemed to sour on him after he 'left the playing field' and it probably did play into my selection.

Ah...for me, he's the best 2b ever. I met him a couple of times, though. He's a prick.

Can't have anyone over Hank at 1b, IMO. Also, you neatly evade the LF question by using the DH....Williams, Bench and Mays wouldn't take the field with a DH.....

Are these lists best overall players, or best hitters per position?

Not sure you can have a list like this (best hitters) without Kent at 2B and Piazza at C...

I have no prob eliminating either one if you are looking at overall play, though.

I guess it's too soon to put Posey over Dietz, but I'd wager you'll do that soon.

Also, you saw Aaron play in person?

I did; I was a little kid when I saw him hit #715 on a Monday night on our black and white TV....my grandfather made sure I sat and watched the whole game until he did it. My mom thought gramps was crazy but I'm glad he made me watch. I saw him live the next couple of years at the Stick with my granddad.

As for Posey, it'll be a few years before he supplants Dietz. Check out DD's stats...he was pretty fucking impressive.
