Besides the Lakers and Celtics, who are the storied NBA franchises?

I want to un-nominate the Knicks. They are only considered storied for 2 reasons: they were an original team and they play in the biggest city in the US. They are Apollo Creed, they were once champions but really are just a supporting character that eventually got their own film when the real show over ran its course.

You might be right. Maybe they are big time because NYC is so big that it's become a self-perpetuating thing by the New York media and the millions of Knicks fans that the Knicks are a big deal. Madison Square Garden is one of the first basketball courts I think of and it's the Mecca, but maybe I've just been conditioned to think that way. LOL.

The Knicks suck because their owner sucks to be fair.

You have to be some kind of terrible to fuck that up.

I think I read somewhere that they were trying to pry Jordan away from the Bulls back in 1996. Also, Stephen Curry wanted to be drafted by the Knicks. Imagine how different the last 25 years could've been for them.

If free agency were like it is today Patrick Ewing would have taken his talents to the Windy City.

That actually would've been juicy to see an aging Bulls super team go up against the budding Spurs and Lakers teams. Have Barkley join them, too. Eventually, youth would prevail, I think.

Edit: But who would coach the Lakers if Phil stays on with the Bulls?

Barkley couldn't get it done with the Glide and the Dream

An argument could be made that there are only 3, Celtics, Lakers and Bulls

Then there’s only 2. Bulls don’t have that history. They’ve actually only mattered in one decade.

I put them there because of the 6 titles, and of course the GOAT

Because they need to give that name back to New Orleans. There is literally no place in the NBA that you would be less likely to associate with Jazz than Utah. :heh::heh::heh:
I think they cracked some form of this joke on an episode of Winning Time.

I've made a similar comment before, and the retort from a Jazz fan was that Park City, Utah is super jazzy, so be careful making fun of the Utah Jazz! LOL.

Yes, I am kidding.

Too late. The Utah Jazz have now been officially nominated. Stockton, Malone, Maravich, and Sloan are basketball icons. Yes, I'm counting the New Orleans years, and I think that's the right thing to do. No one questions counting the Lakers titles from Minnesota. You also have 11 division titles and the Jazz very narrowly missed beating the Jordan Bulls.

Edit: Plus, I saved $12 on my AAA membership one year using a Utah Jazz coupon code I found somewhere. I wish I could find such a code again. LOL.

Adrian Dantley was also a great player.

So far our nominees in addition to the Lakers and Celtics are: Bulls, Spurs, Rockets, Sixers, Jazz, and Knicks.

@MHSL82 said he was just joking about the Jazz, but I think they're worthy enough to make the poll for the reasons I stated above, so I'll nominate them.

I think that @Stakesarehigh also nominated the Pistons and Warriors, but I was a little unclear if he was just giving a hypothetical. Please confirm if you nominated those two teams. I think they should be nominated anyway, but I'm obviously biased as to the Warriors. LOL.

I think the Heat should be nominated, but I'll wait for someone else to do that and present the case for the Heat, which shouldn't be too difficult.
