Countdown to July 1: Latest rumblings on Kaberle, Jagr, Stamkos, Bryzgalov, more - Cross Checks Blog - ESPN

In the meantime, another player of note is forward Sean Bergenheim, who revealed himself to be a clutch performer this past postseason. He earned $700,000 this past season and is obviously looking for a big raise.

"We've talked with Sean's agent a couple of times," Yzerman said. "He was pretty honest with me with what they're thinking. At this time, we see things differently."

He would be a great addition to any team needing some offense. Definitely has the ability to bolster a PP.

Simon Gagne and Marc-Andre Bergeron are two other good TB players that may be up for grabs. I definitely see them resigning those two players, but Bergenheim looks like he may be asking for a little more dough. I wonder if the Lightning resign Roloson?

The 'Canes also have quite a few guys they need to resign. I am curious to see if they keep them all. I definitely see Chiarelli getting Ryder and Marchy signed, but Kaberle I am a little up in the air about. I would prefer they not resign him, but I believe we will. He started to look better the latter part of the postseason. We will see.

Bergenheim will probably be out of the Pens price range, but with how he killed us...that'd be nice. He's probably gonna milk his postseason performance for a big pay day from someone. Probably looking for big years too.

Think he'll get it?

There's always someone willing to overpay big time...it's just going to be interesting who he wants to go to. After years in the AHL and with non-contending teams, you'd think he'd want to be on a competitor, but this may be his shot at a big pay day too.

109 pts in 326 career regular season games 11 pts in 16 career post season games. I'm guessing he needs to show some more improvement before he really cashes in. I'm sure he'll get a nice raise though probably somewhere in the area of 1.2-1.4 a season. He'd definitely be a nice depth signing on a competing team.

I wonder what he is asking... Clearly too much, because they stated to the media thay are not seeing eye to eye.

With how weak the FA pool is, someone will definately way over pay for Bergenheim

I agree... I think he can earn it too. He has the ability. Just not sure if his postseason performance was legit or a fluke.

Word is he wants something around 1.5 million. I bet he gets it. Bergy was frustrating to watch at times when he was with the Islanders. He'd show flashes of being really good & then disappear. His skating has never been an issue. I hope he can continue his strong play from the playoffs to next season.

that's not too bad. there are a few teams that need to spend rather liberally to reach the cap floor.
Panthers for example, have 12 roster spots to fill and need to pay them each an average of about $2.5 million - to reach the floor.
Coyotes also need to spend a minimum of $16.5 mill on 8 spots.
