The Sixers give up Simmons AND Thybulle and get back a guy who has been injured for a year and a half who is on the last year of his contract, a guy who is always injured and a league average player? You think that's fine for the Sixers? LOL

For a Celtics fan it is ;)

So in order to trade Simmons for a guy who hasn't played more than 50 games in 6 years, a guy who will be a FA next summer and a career bench player, they need to sweeten the deal and toss in Thybulle as well? Are they throwing in one of the 1st round draft picks as well? Why not Maxey?

How about 1 of you Sixers fans give us the list of the teams lining up to give anything close to what Morey seems to think he should get. Not sure how you Sixers fans think your team has any leverage beyond having Simmons under contract.

The Sixers have fucked this up and should have traded him back when everyone else in the basketball world was saying they should. Instead, they have decided to waste yet another year of Embiids prime.

Maybe the Sixers get lucky and some team gets desperate and gives Morey what he wants. If thats what the Sixers are counting on....good luck with that.

There is no way the Lakers are getting the 2 best players in a deal like that though.

No way.

Philly would at least get Grant and probably keep Thybulle.

Despite the drama, Simmons far and away the most valuable asset in that package.

lol

Go back and read. Wasnt my trade idea. In fact, I laughed at it and specifically said, not this trade or even one involving the Lakers, but that it might take a trade like that one to get him moved and at least get a solid return.

It cracks me up. Mention the Lakers in any trade and that is all some of you can see.

The point is what it will take to move Simmons, not what the Lakers get or if they would even be involved.

They aren’t going to get what Morey wants because they have screwed it up horrendously.

However, you know what else isn’t going to happen?

The 6ers trading him to the Lakers for scraps.

I understand it isn’t your idea.

But what is the point of posting it when you know it super unrealistic?

I don’t care what team it is about. Post a super unrealistic trade idea benefiting 1 team and not the others and I will react the same.

It is hilarious that you think my reaction is about the name on the jersey. It is about the value.

Point being, LeVert, Warren and Lamb is NOT a solid return for Simmons and Thybulle.

Man if they don’t get a deal done now, imagine if like embiid blows out a knee next year.

I already said this,

But barring a miraculous trade return, the Embiid window is likely over in terms of title contention.

6ers management of a ridiculous trove of assets from the Hinkie era has been an utter failure at almost every step of the way.

Because it was presented as the type of trade that it may take to get him moved.

Then you should probably stay out of discussions that you cant follow along with.

It is hilarious that you think my reaction is about the name on the jersey. It is about the value.

Youre the one who focused on what the Lakers were getting even after it was already pointed that the discussion was about what it may take to move Simmons and not what the Lakers are getting.

Hell, I even mentioned excluding the Lakers and you still responded to what the Lakers were getting in that trade. You didnt even try to present an alternative or any other team in the trade...just focused in on the Lakers.

Im wondering if he gets tired of the Simmons circus and demands a trade.

I have no idea what the Sixers will ultimately get but this argument is pretty far from compelling. This trade offer treats Ben Simmons as either a neutral or negative trade asset. He may not be worth what Morey wants but that is kinda ridiculous.

Entirely possible that he doesn't get dealt. Then things get really interesting. Does Simmons sit out the year and face another year of fines? Does Simmons agree to some face saving kumbya meeting with the team and players and agree to play next year after his "mental health" issues are worked out?

@fightinfunbags and I have been pretty consistently saying that the Sixers really don't have to trade Simmons just to trade him. Using this trade proposal as an example, even if the deal was just Simmons and nothing else, does TJ Warren, Caris Levert and Jeremy Lamb really improve the team to a title contender? If it doesn't then what is the point of making the deal?

And that's what it all boils down to. Whatever deal the Sixers make HAS to give them a noticeably better chance of winning a title otherwise there is no incentive to make the deal.

The problem for the Sixers is that may be the only way to move him and get anything solid in return and its not like Simmons is ever going to play for them again, so they arent really giving up much in that regard.
That’s not a better option than being rid of the asset forever because you essentially are going to lose a bigger asset. If they don’t bring back something that makes the team a true contender then Embiid is asking out and that’s two major assets you’re getting peanuts back for. There’s nothing in that deal that would talk Morey off his game of chicken letting Simmons rot away from the team waiting for another star to beg out of their situation. Luka doesn’t like Dallas. Dame and Beal are threats to throw their hands up this summer and want out. All it takes is one. Simmons has the salary and the upside to put the Sixers in the mix. Embiid is a player a wing or PG with championship aspirations that a player would want to pair with.

It’s not an outrageous projection if you pay attention to the culture of the league. Given the culture it’s shocking to many that guys like Dame and Beal haven’t begged out already. All it takes is one.
