Because it was presented as the type of trade that it may take to get him moved.

Then you should probably stay out of discussions that you cant follow along with.

Youre the one who focused on what the Lakers were getting even after it was already pointed that the discussion was about what it may take to move Simmons and not what the Lakers are getting.

Hell, I even mentioned excluding the Lakers and you still responded to what the Lakers were getting in that trade. You didnt even try to present an alternative or any other team in the trade...just focused in on the Lakers.

I am focused a lot more on what the 6ers aren’t getting.

You said it was only bad for Indiana.

That is false. It is also very bad for Philly.

You are making it about LA more than I am.

I have no idea what the Sixers will ultimately get but this argument is pretty far from compelling. This trade offer treats Ben Simmons as either a neutral or negative trade asset. He may not be worth what Morey wants but that is kinda ridiculous.

At this point, he sure can't be described as a positive trade asset either. At least not much of one.

That’s not a better option than being rid of the asset forever because you essentially are going to lose a bigger asset. If they don’t bring back something that makes the team a true contender then Embiid is asking out and that’s two major assets you’re getting peanuts back for. There’s nothing in that deal that would talk Morey off his game of chicken letting Simmons rot away from the team waiting for another star to beg out of their situation. Luka doesn’t like Dallas. Dame and Beal are threats to throw their hands up this summer and want out. All it takes is one. Simmons has the salary and the upside to put the Sixers in the mix. Embiid is a player a wing or PG with championship aspirations that a player would want to pair with.

The bold...that's what the commercials trying to get people to buy lottery tickets says.

Like I said, someone may get desperate and give Morey something closer to what he wants. But right now, it looks like the Sixers are going to continue to waste Embiids prime years.

It’s not an outrageous projection if you pay attention to the culture of the league. Given the culture it’s shocking to many that guys like Dame and Beal haven’t begged out already. All it takes is one.

Well, after all, Charlie Bucket won the Golden Ticket...so yeah, anything is possible.

What a load of shit. You're the one who commented, at least twice, that the Lakers aren't getting that return after it had already been made clear that the conversation wasn't about the Lakers, but the type of trade it may take to move Simmons.

But yeah, keep saying I'm the one making it about LA.

If you think that Simmons has little or zero trade value then I guess we see things very differently. Seems you are on the other side of Morey on this topic.

I don't see any major writers offering pennies of the dollar trades for Simmons. I do see fansites making these arguments.

For instance here is a deal that the USA Today was talking about..

  • Sixers get: G/F Caris LeVert, SG Norman Powell, PF Larry Nance Jr.
  • Pacers get: SG C.J. McCollum, F Nassir Little, C Cody Zeller, 2024 first-round pick (lottery-protected, via Portland Trail Blazers), 2022 second-round pick (via Portland)
  • Trail Blazers get: Simmons, C Myles Turner, G/F Danny Green
The Sixers give up Simmons and Green and get back 3 significant contributors. Not sure if any of the teams would make that deal but at least it passes the sniff test.

And while there is still relatively little talk about a trade for Simmons, there is talk of things changing...

Five months later, with the Kings (16-23) barely hanging onto the 10th spot in this watered-down West, they’re still highly motivated to make the kind of significant move(s) that would both bolster their postseason chances in the present while giving them a runway for sustained success in the future. More specifically, sources say Kings owner Vivek Ranadive has continued to make it clear to McNair that he has the green light to do whatever is necessary to meet those goals. And while the Kings would prefer to keep building around De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton, their strong appetite to improve means that no player is off the table in terms of potential talks.

Wherever there’s an impact player who can be had, in other words, they’ll be exploring the possibilities. And yes, as you likely wondered, that includes Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons.

While I reported in early September that a Kings-Simmons was looking very unlikely, that was long before team officials had a chance to see nearly half a season’s worth of (mostly subpar) play. Sacramento’s interest is definitely there.

So it is possible that the Sixers will need to take the pu-pu platter in return for Simmons, that certainly isn't what the street is saying.

It is about any team getting way more than they are giving up at the expense of the others.

Substitute LA with any other team and my response would be the same.

Not to mention, your OP didn’t name where the picks were from. Guessing at least 1 was coming from Philly which is just stupid.

And if it isn’t about the Lakers for you, then stop posting Russ for Simmons scenarios. That isn’t happening. I don’t think it is a coincidence that your favorite team gets the two best players.

And when people post homeristic BS I call them on it. I am very consistent in that regard. Does matter who or for what team.

So don’t post homeristic BS, whether your idea or not unless you want to get called out.

I still think Atlanta has the pieces to make something interesting

Reddish is increasing his trade value and an intriguing piece to include in that trade. I'm not sure what else they would want

No, I didn’t.

But the Lakers return is half of what makes it a stupid idea.

So of course I am going to talk about that.

lol

Okay...I guess commenting twice about the Lakers return after the Lakers were removed from the discussion is you not focusing on the Lakers.

Everything suggests that Joe puts the blame squarely on Simmons.

For the current situation sure...but how long before he starts to wonder what the hell the Sixers are doing to fix it?

Well trading Simmons, Thybulle and a pick for Warren, Levert and Lamb isn't going to quell his concerns. It would just exacerbate them.

Dude.

My first comment on this didn’t even mention the Lakers.

I only talked about them replying to YOU because it was relevant to what you said in reply to me.

And even then, half of my quote was about Philly.

So if you think that is “focusing on the Lakers” then maybe you are just too sensitive.

The Laker return was obviously ridiculous. I came into this conversation to talk about Philly’s return.

And that should be clear from my first comment.
