We have to see the end game before we can correctly rule on who wins and who losses. Right now I’m trending in the direction of all parties will have lost and the discussion will be about who lost more.

There is no doubt that all parties have lost.

But I really think the 6ers have lost more at this point. That could change if they end up getting a good deal and Simmons plays poorly in his future city.

But right now I got Philly as the bigger loser.

I think asset wise Thybulle is more valuable. I like Maxey but I think you can find a Maxey in the draft easier than you can find a Thybulle.

Maybe I am underating Maxey. I dont know. HE is good dont get me wrong.

I think Maxey is going to end up getting paid more because he has a pretty good offensive game.

But I tend to agree that Thybulle is harder to replace and also the more valuable role player today.

But Maxey has the higher ceiling IMO.

higher ceiling?

I mean that is not even CLOSE its Thybulle.

he is arguably already the best perimeter defender in the league ALREADY. If he develops an offensive game he can be an All Star.

Maxey is good- but there are a lot of solid point guards out there. It takes a LOT to differentiate yourself as elite. Thybulle is already elite at something- and if he gets an offensive game the sky is the limit.

Ben Simmons is making money, staying home, Avoiding covid and hurting the execs who lied to his face and the coach who tossed him under a bus.

I’d say Morey is a far bigger loser than Simmons at this point

He is making money? He has been fined more than 10 million so far!

Unfortunately, the ceiling on Thybulle offensively seems pretty clear. He is a 3 and D role player. Maxey by contrast is still growing by leaps and bounds and looks to be developing into a star caliber starting player.

We gotta slow the role on “star”. He is still a liability defending his position. He still has to find a way for him to assert himself and impact games in which Embiid and Harris play.

I am not saying he is a star, I am saying he is on a star level trajectory of development in his second season. He has grown a lot, including on defense, though I agree he remains a liability there. If he can become an average defender, which I think is possible, he is going to be a star offensive minded PG.

Thybulle by contrast is indeed an elite defender, but I don't think he will ever be an average scoring wing at this point. I am just not seeing it. That will always limit his role, unless he is on a starting unit surrounded by great scorers.

kinda seems to be a slightly lower ceiling Colin Sexton to me....but we shall see.

Yes. Maxey has a higher ceiling.

Right now Thybulle is a liability offensively.

Highly unlikely he develops to the point he will be an all star.

But he will always be valuable because of the defense.

MT’s ft shooting does not make me optimistic on this.

I would keep maxey but if you trade for lillard I’ll not sure you maximize maxey anyway since you have lillard and curry at that point and mt fits better with them.

True.

Yeah, Maxey can’t be a deal breaker in a trade for Lillard for just that reason.

It’s just a variable in who you are trading Simmons for. Like if (hypothetically) it’s kawhi (just using him cause he’s out), you would prefer to move MT.

But for a guard (lillard, kyrie etc) you’d move maxey

Maxey has decent size for a PG and he moves well. I don’t see any reason why he can’t be an average defender.

Part of the problem is that he's in a back court with Seth Curry. So they are going to get overmatched a lot defensively.

Agreed. I have a lot of concerns about getting Dame.

I just don’t know who is the best fit.

Even beal is redundant with curry there

You really need a Paul George to become available
