I agree. No love-lost between Morey and the Rockets. Fertitta I think was bent outta shape about Morey's Taiwan tweet- as were many of the pearl clutchers in the NBA risking their dirty China money.Yeah, the Rockets made a pretty strange trade and I do think that Fertitta preferred a worse trade than making a deal with Morey.
Sixers said to be asking for an additional first rounder for prime Magic Johnson
My post from 2 months ago seems more and more accurate by the day.
Morey playing an unwinnable game of chicken
Idk. The blazers and lillard seems possible this summer.
But that’s because they’ve fallen apart and the job might be more attractive after moving lillard and cj and getting a blank slate
Wasting an entire year of Embiid prime to get a deal he likely could have had a year earlier.
Nope. The Rockets refused to give Morey the time of day. Rockets were never seriously considering that offer or Morey would have done it.Prior to Harden getting traded to brooklyn, Didn't Houston want a harden for Simmons straight up swap and Philly was dumb enough to say no? Brooklyn not trading Harden ever
He’s pulling shit out of his ass.If so they are so dumb
Have you seen the sixers play without him?
Yep. The opportunity to make a bad deal is still there. Sixers are 16-8 with Embiid playing this year. This is about playoff ball anyway.lol
Still on board with Morey's "plan" Sixers fans?
If we’re gonna hindsight this thing you need to go back to before Morey was even the Sixers GM. He should have been dealt when he had a sad over Brett Brown handing the ball handling duty to Jimmy Butler in the playoffs. They trade Ben and get those assets and they give Harris and Butler max deals. Embiid Butler Harris and assets back for Simmons is the shit. Then they add Thybulle and Maxey around it? That was the spot. Morey had nothing to do with shitting that bed.Wasting an entire year of Embiid prime to get a deal he likely could have had a year earlier.

Yes it did. Depends on who you ask whether it was Jimmy didn’t get the max from the Sixers because they feared that keeping Butler would result in Ben wanting to bolt (ironic) or it was Butler turned down the max because he didn’t want anything to do with Ben and Brett Brown. Either way…the Sixers chose Simmons over Jimmy Butler and that is the moment they fucked this thing up.They always could've given Butler max money though.
Ben's presence never stopped that.
If you wanna say Butler and Simmons weren't an idea fit, fine. But the size you'd have with that as your core 4, plus a versatile defender like Thybulle and you have a lot of fun defensively.

Here’s my argument going the other way. Ben Simmons doesn’t develop issues over night. They’re derelict of duty when they work with this cat and they don’t see this coming based on stuff we hear months and years later. Seems like all the signs were there.I thought the sixers didn’t offer the max. But that also seems like a bad gamble. No one risks not getting that first big deal. At worst you get Gordon hayward’ed and you only get 3 post rookie year deal years.
And even then, by that point, maybe you do take Ben over butler due to age and miles (even if butler is better today)
