Yeah, the Rockets made a pretty strange trade and I do think that Fertitta preferred a worse trade than making a deal with Morey.

I agree. No love-lost between Morey and the Rockets. Fertitta I think was bent outta shape about Morey's Taiwan tweet- as were many of the pearl clutchers in the NBA risking their dirty China money.

If we’re gonna hindsight this thing you need to go back to before Morey was even the Sixers GM. He should have been dealt when he had a sad over Brett Brown handing the ball handling duty to Jimmy Butler in the playoffs. They trade Ben and get those assets and they give Harris and Butler max deals. Embiid Butler Harris and assets back for Simmons is the shit. Then they add Thybulle and Maxey around it? That was the spot. Morey had nothing to do with shitting that bed.

If you wanna say Butler and Simmons weren't an idea fit, fine. But the size you'd have with that as your core 4, plus a versatile defender like Thybulle and you have a lot of fun defensively.

Depends on who you ask whether it was Jimmy didn’t get the max from the Sixers because they feared that keeping Butler would result in Ben wanting to bolt (ironic) or it was Butler turned down the max because he didn’t want anything to do with Ben and Brett Brown. Here’s my argument going the other way. Ben Simmons doesn’t develop issues over night. They’re derelict of duty when they work with this cat and they don’t see this coming based on stuff we hear months and years later. Seems like all the signs were there.
