I think it is TIME to start this discussion POST Tom Brady..... Who made the Patriots? Tom Brady or Bill Belichick?

I personally think BB is coaching/gming like he has Brady at QB and he can take people off the scrap heap and turn things around

Is it too early to have this discussion? I think no...

Last season perfect example - Patriots doing amazing (albeit against shitty opposition) n then coming off the bye what happens? The lay a fucking egg.... Which is supposedly something a Bill Belichick coached team does NOT do

I don't want this on the TEAM board... I want everyone's opinion.

I'm going with Tom Brady...

If you want to show you can do it without Brady then BB you should have let the leash off of Mac Jones but you refused to do that!

Belichick would have been a defensive coordinator by 2003 without Brady.

Brady likely doesn't have nearly as many rings without Belichick.

It's not 50/50. It is WAY more Brady. But Belichick certainly should get some of the credit.

Wonder if Brady even would have been drafted?

Bellichick deserves a lot of credit but the NFL changed when they started calling pass interference and at that point it was all Brady

Seattle is actually very much going the route New England did with Brady...

Except Brady is the best QB of all time, Wilson is not and doesn't know what check down or wide open 5-15 yard passes are... and Seattle got rid of him much earlier.

I honestly do think Wilson is a little bit done. You watch him play now (unless he was REALLY mailing it in), outside of the deep ball, he's not making defenders miss in the backfield anymore. His escape factor that made him so successful early in his career is gone. Offensive lines HATE blocking for him (Olineman have come out and said it), and he holds onto the ball WAAAY too long these days.

That said, one of the best (if not the best) deep ball QBs in the league. He does put up the flashy plays. But so many times I was sitting there thinking, "WHY!? You had a WIDE open TE, RB, slant WR, drag/cross route WR!? WTF are you doing?" Eh whatever.

Wilson was gone after this year anyway even if Seattle retained him. He clearly wanted out. Might as well get something for him. Should Carroll have stuck around? Eh. If Seattle had brought in a new coach would Russell would've? No. So might as well get something. Seattle traded a bunch of 1sts and draft capital along with salary over the years to try and keep it going. It wasn't working. Time to start over before it's literally too late. It's not atm.

They have a decent secondary with their signings this offseason, good receivers/tight ends, are working to fix the lines, and draft picks to make some moves along with huge cap. It's a semi-rebuild, not a full one.

BB certainly is trying to make it about him as it appears that he is only going to try and "win" with scrap heap players so he can say, "I can do it"

Honestly, from a Pats perspective its probably 50/50. Defense wins championships and BB stifled many top offenses over the years.

The problem is that the Patriots GMs ran into all of the issues that every successful GM runs into. Seeing what the Chiefs have had to go through the past few offseasons has been eye-opening. The league just isnt designed to have dynasties at all. A huge factor in the Patriots success is that the AFC East couldnt find franchise QBs so BB and company could operate with a moneyball type of strategy and still put together a contender year in and year out. Had Josh Allen came 10 years earlier then that would've been a massive blow to all of the Pats runs imo.

All of the rules today favor QBs and punish GMs. So BB deserves a lot of credit even though Brady will be remembered as the GOAT.

50-50 for me. It takes a combination of HC and QB to do what the Pats did. All dynasties have operated in similar fashion, with a solid HC-QB combo.

Yeah, I like 50/50, too. Neither won last year. Brady won it all the year before. I thought Brady was done two years ago, and the Pats seemed that way, too. This year will tell us a lot more.
