Just read a lengthy article on NBC Sports on the internet. Looks like BB has more than an axe he's about to grind.

He says that worst the part of the garbage changes in the NFL, is that it's being pushed down to the college level. "It isn't going to happen at Chapel Hill."

Too many snot-nosed kids want to get into the sandbox and play with the trucks.

A BB confident said that him taking the job at NC was basically a big Fuck You to the NFL.

Quote a close confidant of BB. (Mike Lombardi???);

"You know who the NFL's Bird and Magic were? Me and Brady. Don't believe me? Your salary cap in 2000 was $62 million. Now your paying shit quarterbacks that much for a year of shit play before they get hurt."

"I'm all set. And I hope everyone pays close attention to what I'm doing and takes notes because the NFL was in my marrow. But not this NFL. Not your NFL. You can have it. I'm leaving. Pricks."

Talk about being pissed off??? Makes one wonder if BB's getting ready to hang out some really dirty laundry that has the owner's signatures on them.

I read something to where the NFL has blackballed him. Thus no teams reaching out to him. I could see Goodell reaching out to the owners and bending their ears???

I can't see any multi-billionaire owner following Goodell down any road with financial penalties.

BB has his own set of rules and follows them to a tee. If he doesn't have a say about everything from the draft to bringing in a free agent, he won't accept that position. He's disciple of the Parcells' School of Football Coaching.

"I can't cook your supper if you don't allow me to buy the groceries."

Too many of today's owners and their kids want to hang out in the kitchen and do some prep work. They may own the kitchen, but none of them have ever peeled a potato.

Certainly Bill's way of doing business has likely caused him a job or two, as you mentioned owners don't like giving up full control.

But, I feel there is also some collusion going on. In his presser he mentioned that the NFL is getting garbage talent and paying them millions (paraphrasing). So what Bill you're going to go to one school and change everything? Or you're afraid if you had gotten a call from the NFL you wouldn't be able to put a worthwhile product on the field? Afraid of failure.

I know he is upset about the Falcons job. Sounded like things were heading towards him being hired until Kraft talked to their owner and told him it would be a bad idea. So I do think there is some behind closed doors black listing of Belichick. He is a good coach for sure but I don’t think any team wants to give coaches the power they are wanting today. And most never should be given full control over every decision.

No question Bill is a good coach, but his greatness was tied to Brady, Brady was the guy that took the Pats to the next level .. Bill is the guy who saw something in Brady though and got him in there, so he deserves that credit, BUT without Brady, Bill would have probably done a decent job, but ended as an above average head coach … Bill needed Brady more than Brady needed Bill … Brady was just next level…

The Super Bowl was already the most watched TV show in the US every year well before Brady ever laced them up, its popularity wouldve been just fine without B and B

Bird/Magic were rivals and took the NBA from tape delay to Primetime.

An absurd comparison in every way possible.

Two very important figures in NFL history, but the NFL is not what it is because of them.

Say what you will, but no team has been as hated as the NE Patriots from 2004 until 2020. People believe what they want to believe and no one can change it.

Super Bowl and NFL TV ratings have gone up and down depending on the teams playing. Not all of the numbers have been compiled but the Patriots/Falcons OT game was the most watched program in television history.

One thing that you MUST remember is that ratings and audiences are based on a single person watching a broadcast for uninterrupted for seven minutes and the numbers do not reflect how many people watched an entire game, including the halftime shows.

Your own stats have KC/SF as most watched. The ratings were in the upper 40s all the way back in the early 80s.

Super Bowl LVIII is Most-Watched Telecast in History | NFL Football Operations Sports' coverage of Super,Paramount%2B%2C Nickelodeon%2C Univision%2C and

Like I said, zero comparison whatsoever to the impact Magic and Bird had.

I lived both options.
I'll have to agree with you on this one.
I remember going to the flee market in Santa Rosa to sell some things.
Celtics/lakers were playing that day so I brought a television.
During the game, I had the entire fleemarket watching the game on my TV - and that wasn't the NBA fans that stayed home to watch Bird and Magic. It was a magical time!

Brady...the QB who couldn't secure the starting QB position all through college? That Brady?

And the game plan for the first three SB's was "Brady, don't fuck it up." He grew into the goat because he was coached into the goat.
You can’t coach what Brady had, he was good from the start, clutch from day 1 … You don’t become the GOAT simply from coaching, Brady was going places regardless.. Not saying coaching can’t help, it certainly can, but Brady even told Kraft he was the best draft pick New England ever made when he arrived, he knew what he was bringing to that organization …

The thing BB did better than anyone else was coach to his players' strengths and build his team around existing strengths. Brady wasn't just allowed to be his best self, the team was built for it. Without that the TB12 might have been just another backup.

Our rookie WR said the same this year. He has not done anything.....

I don’t think Brady would have been a backup, he would have won the starting job somewhere with his talent and ended up flourishing … But just to be clear, I think BB is a good coach, he knows what he’s doing … But Brady was just a rare unique talent that we might not ever see again … I’d take a young Brady over any QB in history if I was given the choice …
