According to a credible source, Smith never was given the so-called "contact test" which is the last step a player must take in being cleared from a concussion. Symptoms from a concussion can arise and reappear at any time, and it may be that Smith experienced symptoms -- a headache, for example -- in the last day. Smith also suffered a concussion last season, although he did not miss any games.

Kap doesn't need to have a great statistical game, so hope he doesn't "over extend"?

first, he needs to 'manage' a win ala Alex Smith. if he wins games ala Alex, that is 'hot' enough for now.

second, he needs to show some potential in passing from the pocket. he doesn't need a lot of passing stats tonight, but does need to exhibit that potential.

Was curious to see what happened in the last game Brandon Marshall faced the 49ers. For some reason I was surprised that he hasn't faced the 49ers since his rookie season. It came in week 16 in 2006 and he only had 2 catches for 20 yards. The thought has no bearing on what to expect from tonight's game. I was just curious to see what he may have done to the 49ers the last time.

Yes, if the 49ers and Seahawks finished with the same amount of wins, the tie trump the Seahawks additional loss. Very important to win the remaining divisional games against the Cards and Rams. At Seattle will be tough- don't want the division title to hinge on that game.
