Are you only talking about Americans? It's gaining participants, not losing them.
I enjoy college basketball.
Are you counting chinese? This is just your opinion. Baseball is my favorite sport but the fact is basketball has almost double the fans as baseball does in the world. Close to 350 million more, it's sad but true.
Its a long season, fans pay more attention mid season on through the playoffs. But I do think all professional sports have taken a hit lately. Even if viewership is up in the NBA for example it could be higher. People are busier than ever so to sit through an entire Baseball game takes some planning.
How about extra inning games?
the pace of play has never bothered me. pitcher vs. batter is like chess
Are you counting chinese?
Not sure how to break this to you, but they don't count.
Notsomuch
As for baseball’s P&L statement, by our count, the 30 MLB teams generated record average operating income (in the sense of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of $40 million during the 2018 season, 38% more than the previous year. Last season revenue increased 4.8%, to an average of $330 million per team, while player costs (including signing bonuses and benefits) remained flat at $157 million.
19-year-old thug-wannabes who can hit a 35-foot shot, and look remarkably athletic on a dunk but coudn't hit a 7 foot jumper to save their mother and have no clue what defense is. They should just abandon the whole pretense of defense and play horse for three quarters and have a slam dunk contest in the final quarter.NBA basketball is the least watchable sport on the planet, I would rather watch Pakistan vs Madagascar in a lawn bowling match than watch a single minute of an NBA game, less kids watching baseball doesn't mean it's dying, with video games being so popular I would imagine kids are watching less of every sport, basketball remains relevant because you can have an IQ of 12 and still play it and all it takes is one ball and anything you can throw shit into, pretty much the same reason soccer remains so popular.

No, it isn't.That's false.
I'm not sure the attendance at early-season/poor weather games of shitty teams is a good barometer of baseball's health.
More disappointment to come. Much more.Small sample size. It's a very, very long season.
I don't live in Cuba. Are you only talking about Americans?
Latinos are growing in both general population and opportunity to play ball for money. It's not just afterwork games in the sugar cane fields anymore, you know?
It is losing African participants. But why would you be so microfocused on that?
No, it isn't.
And thirty years in a stadium is a long time. When it's the least asses in seats and it wasn't snowing, it's worth mentioning.
It's also worth accepting that baseball is on its downswing. Just the way it is.
