Hmmm.... Don't remember the Ravens being an expansion team. I always thought an already quality team moved to Baltimore from Cleveland and changed their name. Dang, I guess you learn something new every day.

:omg: :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:

I don't believe you think that, but hey if that really what you think, to each his own

Hey Morph! Did you catch the latest 9-1-1 call out of Denver? Seems the Ravens defense fell down, and couldn't get up.....

A Ravens fan who doesn't even know his team's history.....sad. Laughable, but sad:

The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The team is a member of the American Football Conference's North
Division
and current defending champions of the National
Football League
, but on September 5th 2013 they had the worst
preformance in an opening season game by the team that won the Super Bowl the
previous year in all of NFL history.

The team originated in 1996 when then-owner of the Cleveland Browns, Art Modell, announced his plans to relocate the franchise to Baltimore.[2] As part of
a settlement between the league and the city of Cleveland, Modell was required
to leave the Browns' name, colors and heritage in Cleveland for a replacement
team that took the field in 1999. In return, he was allowed to take his players
to Baltimore, where his new team would be legally recognized as an expansion
team.

If anything, I exaggerated a little on the quality. But They still had a leg up on what a true expansion team would start with.

Ravens have two Lombardi trophies, (same number as the broncos) and both have come in the new millennium, mean while the Bronco haven't had one since what 1998? Kind of weird considering the Ravens have only been in the NFL since 1995 and the broncos have been in the NFL since 1960

took Denver 38 years to win 2 SB's took Baltimore 18 years to win 2 SB....hummmm

Nice Cherry pick.

Let's go to the big board, shall we?

Denver Broncos-

League championships (2)
Super Bowl Championships (2)
1997 (XXXII), 1998 (XXXIII)
Conference championships (6)
AFC: 1977, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1997, 1998
Division championships (12)
AFC West: 1977, 1978, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998, 2005, 2011, 2012
Playoff appearances (19)
NFL: 1977, 1978, 1979, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2011, 2012

Baltimore Ravens-

League championships (2)
Super Bowl Championships (2)
2000 (XXXV), 2012 (XLVII)
Conference championships (2)
AFC: 2000, 2012
Division championships (4)
AFC North: 2003, 2006, 2011, 2012
Playoff appearances (9)
NFL: 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012

Pretty large gap there in Superbowl appearances (4), AFC Championships (4) Division titles (8) Playoff appearances (10).

I would pull the Browns stats, but you already excluded them for this discussion.

Besides, Browns have ZERO Lombardis.

So you won 2 Superbowls 12 years a part. My point was it took a long time to get back there. From the looks of last night, it will take a long time to get back there again. And unless Flacco restructures that ridiculous contract he got that he is not worth, you won't be able to afford any real talent when guys start againg and leaving to free agency.

Ozzie Newsome has been good in teh past at putting together a roster, but I think everyone overestimated the new additions this year.

Hey, now in their defense they were just really tired after that jog out of the locker room to start the second half.

Even if you add in the Browns history from 1945-1995 (50 years) and combine it with the Ravens history, your last league championship before the move was 1949.

It only took 51 years for them to win a championship again.

BTW Macrowave, the closest the Ravens came to getting Manning out of the game was him getting arthritis from raising his arms celebrating the 6000 TD's he threw last night. My av is a great illustration if you need a visual.

I guess that's not quite accurate. Had Trevathan held on to the ball over the goal line, Manning would have sat out the rest of the game on the mercy rule...

BTW part II. The worst lose EVER by a defending champ.:laugh3: !!!!!!!!!

Are you talking about the "Football City" that couldn't get a 4th Place Baseball team to make way for a Super Bowl celebration party?

Only one city has had a team sneak off in the middle of the night and it was not Denver. I think for now on I will refer to the ravens as the 2nd browns.

:wtf2::lame:

ummm....no. That team is not the same franchise. You can't pick and choose what records to keep and throw out.

And if Baltimore football is so great, how come they couldn't keep a team in town? Why did they sneak out in the middle of the night like cowardly thieves?

You don't know what you're talking about.

Pat Bowlen (who has only owned the Broncos since 1984) has always put forth a contender and has given back to this community and the fans.

This loyal fan base has sold out every game for 36 plus years.

Don't forget that the Baltimore Colts were the reason why John Elway played for Denver. It was because they were so awful 1983 that John Elway did not want to play for them and their management was awful. Just watch the 30 for 30 on the ESPN Networks that is call from Elway to Marino. It is about the 1983 NFL Draft. It shows how the gm for the Baltimore Colts was and what other GMs want to avoid.

The Colts franchise never became good after the move to Indianapolis until Peyton Manning played them.
