He'd be 2nd string at Iowa.

:pigglywiggly:

Honestly, he probably would. I️ firmly believe you can put any D1 starting QB in OU’s offense and they will put up similar #’s. OU’s QB next year will do the same.

You don't know muzh about football if you really believe that. Numbers don't mean wins. Mayfield is special, no question about that.

OU has had some very good QB's through the years. Heisman winners Bradford and Jason White. Astronomical numbers produced by Landry Jones. National champ Josh Huepel. Sugar Bowl Bama killer Trevor Knight. Specialist Belldozer. Baker may be the best of all of them. His ability to lead, motivate, create. His accuracy. His legs. His determination. Very few players of all time have attained his level. 3 time Heisman candidate. Likely Heisman winner.

Even if he doesn't win the Heisman, his image will forever be preserved planting the flag, not unlike the Iwo Jima flag plant.

Lol. Love the butthurt in this thread. I know and understand why other teams hate him, (especially after he beats you), but your kidding yourself if you don't think he's an elite college qb. You know damn well you'd take him on your team in a heartbeat.

Clear runaway for Heisman

How do you think he transitions to the NFL?

Although the comeback he led sucked for us vols fans, I became a big fan of his on this day. I can remember going to games as early as 1988, seen a bunch of cfb greats and this kid is up there at the top of the list of bad ass's I've ever watched live.

He definitely helped his stock coming back this year. Lot of people label him as a system QB, but he has a much stronger arm than he gets credit for by some. Honestly, I think it all depends on which team he goes to. I'm not sure he could be a star QB at the next level. But I think he could be very solid in the right situation. I'd like to see him sit behind an established guy and learn a few seasons. He won't be able to scramble with the same success obviously, (especially running east and west), but he does have the tools to be a quality starting QB in the NFL IMO.

That was such a great environment. Bob called that one of his favorite games ever (including his Natonal championship), because of how OU won and fought back after getting dominated for the 3 quarters and how special that atmosphere was in that stadium.

I'm not his biggest fan because I think some of the things he did hurt the team. Putting that aside though, he is a gamer the likes of which doesn't come along often. He has an NFL arm, I don't think there is any question about that. I see him as a more mobile Drew Brees, his arm is that good.

I️ guarandamntee you OU’s QB next year doesn’t miss a beat and will put up similar numbers. Landry put up insane numbers as well as did Bradford. For the record, it’s not a knock on him. He’s a helluva QB considering he started out as a walk on at TTECH. But he’s a system QB, definitely won’t be a franchise QB. I’m sure GM’s learned their lesson when Bradford was drafted #1 overall.

If Kylar Murray is our QB1 next season, doubtful he will be nearly as productive as Baker has been, and he will be completely different regardless.

Landry put up insane numbers as well as did Bradford.

No argument there. They were system guys....basically pass heavy although Sam could pick up a couple yds with his legs if pressed. Jones could only run backwards. However, this is about Mayfield, so .....

But he’s a system QB, definitely won’t be a franchise QB.

Mayfield is actually anti system. He used to frustrate the O coaching staff as he had a mind of his own. "what are you doing? Are you crazy? ..... Wow, did you see that? Just as we called it."

Every once in awhile, a special talent comes along. Sometimes they have success at the next level. Sometimes not. Vince Young. Tim Tebow. Johnny Manziel. Sam Bradford. All great in college. Not particularly great at the next level. This may be Mayfield. Time will tell. Some of the greats at the next level were really not special in college. Two different games.

If one looks at what Baker has done since taking the reigns at OU, they would have to say its been nothing short of great. Very few have bettered Baker since at OU. None have done it twice. He has not lost a true road game in 3 seasons. To put things in perspective, Baker has as many losses in his 3 seasons as Texas has this season.

I tried to tell you guise...

This kid, POSSIBLY, could be the goat. It all hinges on where the season ends for OU.

IF it ends in Atlanta with Baker hoisting a trophy......watch out.

Vince Young will ask for Jumpman (tm) Baker Mayfield p.j.'s for xmas next year...
Tebow will want him to lay his hands on him...
Jameis will steal a crab boat and sail it to Norman...
Kapernick will take both knees....
The Little Rock P.D. will get drafted.....

I fucking love this.
"TCU players appear to cut off Baker warming up with his recievers before the game, Baker proceeds to throw the ball and peg a TCU defensive player directly in the head, then gives the cockiest clap you can imagine right in front of the TCU players before torching the TCU defense for 300 yards and 3 TD's all before half."
WATCH: Baker Mayfield appears to nail TCU player in head with football during warm-ups
