Winning the Rose Bowl is only second to winning the NC. It is still the best bowl game and everyone not in the NC game wants in that bowl.

Agree. but I can see a Husker fans point. They dont have the rivaled PAC vs B1G thing going and are new to the B1G. I can see Brasky's point. But I will always remain satisfied with a Rose bowl win.

If you think about it we are soon to have 26 total teams in the PAC/B1G combined. THere are 32 NFL teams. That means winning the Rose you are better than 25 other teams. NFL u are better than 31. Only one in 126 FBS teams can take home the crystal football. That is why the Rose is a heck of a game to win.

It only means something to me because it gives my conference a chance to win since the SEC is banned from it.

What I dont understand is why all of our conference bowl tie ins have to be against teams that had better seasons than our teams did. The B10 is ALWAYS playing their 4th place vs another conferences 2nd or 3rd place or our 6th place vs another confernces 4th place etc etc. Then we act all shocked when we go 2-6 in bowls. Yes 6-6 Iowa playing 9-3 Texas or 8-4 Michigan playing 10-2 South Carolina are fun games but maybe we should try scheduling some bowls vs teams at least on the same level as us so we can start gaining back some national respect. Sick of 7th place Purdue losing to 4th place OK State and then being told the B10 sucks because of that.

10-2 South Carolina was like the 4th to 6th best SEC team.

You can mix them up a bit, but I wouldn't consider them mismatches in terms of conference ranks.

The SEC gets similar things pretty often. Tennessee vs VT a few years ago stands out off the top of my head as being a horrible mismatch.

Ha the Grand Daddy. That game means more and has for a long time than any other bowl game. The rest of the country knows, its too bad you cant figure that out.

When the Pac and Big10 decided to lock everyone else out, it can no longer carry such honors with a straight face. Sure the media hypes the game, but anyone who is honest about it knows it.

So now that the Sugar Bowl has locked everyone else out, does that mean it isn't as important a game as it used to be?

Excellent point. I'd love to have the PAC, ACC or Big 12 bowl tie-ins for a season and see the Big 12 8th going against the B1G 4th. Not to mention we also have 3 bowl tie-ins with routinely the 3rd, 4th and 5th best SEC team.

Kinda like the SEC. Their top teams never play other top teams out of the south. But they get the hype of the conference as a whole but when you look at the numbers that is not true. The B10/PAC has the best bowl and the B10 has the biggest/best rivalry. Its that simple.

There are also routinely years where the B10 has gotten a 2nd BCS team even in years where maybe the teams performance did not warrant a BCS game. Of course part of this is because of how well the B10 teams travel but then we have a team in a BCS game that doesnt always belong and then all our other teams end up bumped up a spot in pecking order and we end up with 6-6 Minnesota playing 9-3 Texas Tech.

It hasn't been as important as it used to be since the BCS came out. It's the bowl you don't want to go to now.

I guess it depends on your definition of "best bowl game". While the competition in the Rose Bowl is not always at the same level of alot of the other BCS games the history, tradition, pagaentry of the game are clearly the greatest. If you are going solely by matchups then you'd be correct IMO but if youa re going by overrall meaning to the game of CFB then the Rose Bowl wins in a landslide.
