If the Vols do get the playoffs, you know it won't be a fluke after having to get past the Furman Paladins, Troy Trojans, and Charlotte 49ers. The Vol’s will be tested for sure. Ohio State is lucky they get to avoid that gauntlet.

PAC and B1G teams are going to play 10 games vs. P5 competition. Everyone is going to be able to evaluate those teams. The extra games vs. bad G5/FCS programs isn't relevant when talking about the playoffs.

B1G already did away with FCS scheduling.

That's not true. They initially did, but backed off that. The B1G has a ton of future games with FCS schools.

Outside of watching Wisconsin play anybody, only conference games interest me during the regular season. OOC games in the bowls is a different story

Don't get me wrong, I can kind of understand the Pac12 because there isn't any leagues near them and they are mostly in 3 states (Colorado and Utah are the exception). In fact for Colorado, it would make more sense for them to rejoin the Big12 this season if they are afraid of traveling.

The B1G doesn't make sense because the league spans from Nebraska to New Jersey/Maryland. Many of their schools are closer to their OOC games then some of their conference games. Most of the B1G's OOC opponents are in the MAC which spans the same geographical region.

Again, it's not about travel distance. It's about having the ability to be flexible with the schedule in regard to start dates, bye weeks and potential rescheduled games.
