I didn't see it but I do not have a problem with it. Make your pitches and don't fall behind 3-0. I say the hitter should do what he normally would do regardless of the score.

I agree. It's rare, but I have seen teams blow 7 run leads. Run Rules are for Little League. Don't ask the other team to quit playing hard, either play better or have your team come off the field and hit the showers. No problem with Tatis swinging no matter the score

I realize I'm going to get misunderstood and probably shit on for this, but taking on 3-0 has been in the game a long time.

Right you are. It was just the circumstances that got people upset. I had no problem either way.

You are right, but I think in general, you take on 3-0 to work a walk and try and drive up a pitch count. I know for myself, if I have a good hitter at the plate, I'm giving him the green light on any 3-0. First, the player has worked the count to 3-0, so he has shown a good eye already, will likely take ball 4 anyway if it's not a strike. Second, he will likely pass on a fastball right down the pipe, then likely get an offspeed strike on the next pitch and be sitting 3-2 and an extended zone on full count. JMO

Woodward may have been a bit misunderstood on the mic last night but it came across whiny and excuse filled. Why the reporter chooses to ask this sets him up for failure just by being honest. The problem is now it infuses and IMO poisons the team with excuses and softness.
The whole TV crew all 3 of them need to be overhauled IMO

It’s always going to make for an easy target when someone invokes an unwritten rule against one of the brightest young stars in the game, especially when the act in question made the score 14-3. It can come off as sour grapes, whining, or (in a twist of fate) poor sportsmanship. It didn’t take long for the internet to point out that Woodward’s lone grand slam as a big-leaguer came in the ninth inning of a game his team was leading 10-4 at the time.
