Colt was never going to be an NFL starter. Not enough arm strength.

Yeah, I missed him. Update:

What about NFL careers? This is how I would classify:

Really Good
D Brees, Eli Manning, B Roethlisberger, A Rodgers

Proven
M Vick, Phil Rivers, Matt Ryan, Alex Smith (close call)

Unproven Level A
A Luck, RG3, S Bradford, Russ Wilson, C Kaepernick, C Newton, A Dalton

Unproven Level B
T Tebow, B Weeden

Unproven Level C
Kellen Moore, C Keenum, Chase Daniel, G Harrell, Tyrod Taylor

Meh/no-go
C Weinke, V Young, M Leinart, C McCoy, Pat White, J Heupel, Ken Dorsey, C Leak,Brad Smith (played some wildcat, WR), E Crouch, Troy Smith, David Greene, Joe Hamilton, Randle El (no-go as a QB), Dan LeFevour, Todd Reesing, Chad Pennington, Jason White (never made squad, btw), Joey Harrington, Brian Johnson (never signed)

I hate Texas...but VY is a 2x pro-bowler.

LOL...spot on with Jason White, that guy has robotic knees/elbows now. I don't he could walk or throw for at least a couple of years after playing without being on some kind of meds.

NFL has nothing to do with College.

Also honors that other people vote on mean nothing.

Wins and Stats are all that matter when comparing players...

Great Example, the best NFL rookie defensive player from 2012 won no awards, but others did...

Vince Young at #1 is a fucking Joke.

The best QB in the BCS era has never been shut out.

Whoever the best is, I can 100% assure you he has never lead his team to ZERO Points in a Game, let alone the biggest game for him of 2004....

Yeah, you are right. Cleveland had dumped Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson because they never expected Colt McCoy to start.

Seriously, how stupid are you? It was funny at first, but now it is just sad.

Yeah, what was I thinking? EVERY TEAM looks for thier franchise QB in the 3rd round!!!!!

You do realize they signed two vet QBs to replace those scrubs they dumped, right? WHY do you think they signed Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace.....oh thats right, so they could sit the bench behind the all world 3rd round QB they drafted!!!!!

LOL, you have to be the biggest moron on this board, seriously

Yes, they signed 35-year-old Jake Delhomme as their long-term quarterback. That's why they gave him a below market value two year deal, right?

The funny thing is that I almost mentioned him in the last post and then convinced myself that not even you were stupid enough to claim that Jake Delhomme was meant to be their long-term QB.

You continue to amaze me.

That's because as usual, your reading comprehension is below that of a 2nd grader.

Not ONCE did I say he was their longterm solution.......but neither was McCoy. If they wanted a long term solution at QB, they'd have taken him in the first round......

Please, list for us all the teams that have picked their long term, franchise QB in the 3rd round and started him that same year........I'll wait.

Did you seriously just ask me, a Wisconsin fan, to name a Third Round franchise QB who started as a rookie?
The Geico pig thinks that it is a stupid question.

Had to put him on there somewhere since he won the Heisman......

It's like a rule or somethin. From here on out he will always be known as a good QB even though Taylor Martinez is actually more goodar.

LMAO

And FWIW, I never said they expected McCoy to be a full-time starter as a rookie. In fact, they probably didn't. However, they probably meant for him to start his second year and definitely expected him to be a full-time, long-term starter by Year 3. Nobody is expecting a Russell Wilson in Round 3, but they definitely hope for a starter. There might be more Charlie Fryes than Matt Schaubs, but to try to act like McCoy hasn't been a disappointment is completely disingenuous.

The Geico pig thinks that it is a stupid question.

Reading comprehension fails you AGAIN

I said name for us all the teams that EXPECTED their 3rd round pick to start and be their long term option at QB

In other words, what teams PLAN to draft a franchise QB in the 3rd round?

When you figure this out, then you'll understand why your statement on face value alone is completely absurd

Of all the third round picks in the last dozen drafts, i'll bold the ones who were expected to be potential long-term starters, IMO:

Josh McCown- Arizona
Chris Simms- Tampa
Dave Ragone- Houston
Matt Schaub- Atlanta
David Greene- Seattle
Andrew Walter- Oakland
Charlie Frye- Cleveland
Brodie Croyle- Kansas City
Charlie Whitehurst- San Diego
Trent Edwards- Buffalo
Kevin O'Connell- New England
Colt McCoy- Cleveland
Ryan Mallett- New England
Nick Foles- Philadelphia
Russell Wilson- Seattle

That's 9 out of 15.

The Matt Flynn signing would seem to be a counterpoint, there.

I'd disagree with every name on this list. All these guys were expected to be backups, POTENTIAL starters. In other words, PROJECT QBs.

I don't think any name on that list was drafted as an expected starter. Looks like a bunch of maybes to me.
