Colt was never going to be an NFL starter. Not enough arm strength.
He was drafted in the 4th round - so obviously he was not expected to be a starter.
3rd*
Yeah, I missed him. Update:
What about NFL careers? This is how I would classify:

oops, my bad.......but my point still stands.....nobody drafts an expected starter at QB that low.
Just another case of smart being.......smart
Yeah, you are right. Cleveland had dumped Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson because they never expected Colt McCoy to start.
Seriously, how stupid are you? It was funny at first, but now it is just sad.
Yes, they signed 35-year-old Jake Delhomme as their long-term quarterback. That's why they gave him a below market value two year deal, right?
The funny thing is that I almost mentioned him in the last post and then convinced myself that not even you were stupid enough to claim that Jake Delhomme was meant to be their long-term QB.
You continue to amaze me.
That's because as usual, your reading comprehension is below that of a 2nd grader.
Not ONCE did I say he was their longterm solution.......but neither was McCoy. If they wanted a long term solution at QB, they'd have taken him in the first round......
Please, list for us all the teams that have picked their long term, franchise QB in the 3rd round and started him that same year........I'll wait.
Had to put him on there somewhere since he won the Heisman......
It's like a rule or somethin. From here on out he will always be known as a good QB even though Taylor Martinez is actually more goodar.
Did you seriously just ask me, a Wisconsin fan, to name a Third Round franchise QB who started as a rookie?
The Geico pig thinks that it is a stupid question.
Reading comprehension fails you AGAIN
I said name for us all the teams that EXPECTED their 3rd round pick to start and be their long term option at QB
In other words, what teams PLAN to draft a franchise QB in the 3rd round?
When you figure this out, then you'll understand why your statement on face value alone is completely absurd
Reading comprehension fails you AGAIN
I said name for us all the teams that EXPECTED their 3rd round pick to start and be their long term option at QB
Of all the third round picks in the last dozen drafts, i'll bold the ones who were expected to be potential long-term starters, IMO:
Josh McCown- Arizona
Chris Simms- Tampa
Dave Ragone- Houston
Matt Schaub- Atlanta
David Greene- Seattle
Andrew Walter- Oakland
Charlie Frye- Cleveland
Brodie Croyle- Kansas City
Charlie Whitehurst- San Diego
Trent Edwards- Buffalo
Kevin O'Connell- New England
Colt McCoy- Cleveland
Ryan Mallett- New England
Nick Foles- Philadelphia
Russell Wilson- Seattle
That's 9 out of 15.
