I won't lie, it was pretty tough to watch, but obviously some key pieces are missing.
I have some catching up to do
They aren't coming back soon enough.

I am not trying to kick Scheppers to the curb as a starter but would like for him to go to the pen to strengthen it.
At the risk of being redundant here, how huge was coaching in the last 2 games? I'm referring specifically to the 10th inning and MM on Fri, and Rios last night in the 9th.
Why wasn't Moreland given the take a pitch sign from 3rd or the dugout? And why wasn't Rio's told not to try and steal 3rd?
I'd think 2 professionals wouldn't have to be told/signaled to do the elementary task taught in Babe Ruth league. But obviously, we have guys who can't think and must be micro managed, regardless of how simple the situation at hand. And our manager is allowing them to use their own judgement and it's failing, and often.
I'm not freaking out because I know we're only 11 games into the season. But man, this team is fundamentally flawed and this isn't due to injuries. It's due to the manager not taking charge and doing his job. Very disconcerting.
You expressed this before this start and I wasn't on board. But after watching him last night, I might be heading over to your side.
How he responds to the first sign of trouble is, well, very troubling. He's folded faster than a cheap suit in an inning during each of his starts and this isn't a sign of a guy ready to take the ball every 5th day.
I was always on board with you regarding him in the BP. He was terrific there and will certainly help now. I just didn't want to give up on him in the rotation this quick. But he's making that easier.
Why not blame the guy responsible for hiring the manager and the players, who apparently need to have their hands held on a pitch by pitch basis? Wash has been a poor strategist for years now and will never change his philosophy, but JD keeps him in charge. If the roster is so flawed and our manager so inept, then blame falls at the doorstep of the guy paid to assemble the ball club.
For the record, I like Wash and JD. Just saying its funny how Wash is blamed for every loss and JD gets nothing but free passes.
Last night was entirely on Rios.
Lets get the win today and take the series. And, Prince fuckin do something.
I'm torn on Scheppers. Yeah he shit the bed in the 4th, but then retires 9 of the last 10 he faced. hopefully it's just growing pains bc he does have really good stuff

Good thought. Hope you got my last comment last night. All is well here. For the record I like Wash OK and JD better. And I really made a poor case of what I was trying to get too.
What I was trying to get too is from today going forward no one has the green light, either with the bat or running the bases for the immediate future. Let the decisions fall on the coaches for right now and see if we can't get everyone's head on straight. Then you/me, the players and reporters won't have to wonder who made what decision. Just for the immediate future.
I didn't think our base running could get any worse than last year, but heavens, it seems worse to me.
I do blame JD for keeping him around. However, it's not JD's fault a third of our roster got injured.

Time to get Scheppers back in the BP where he can thrive and we could really use him more, and call Tepesch up until we get some guys back. A rotation of Darvish, Perez, RR, Tep and Colby for a week or 2 until Harry comes back would be ok by me. Soria just doesn't seem to be ready to get the ball back to back days, maybe an inning every 3rd day is what he can handle now coming back from injury?
Might want to start thinking about calling up Brett Nicholas and sending JPA somewhere? Hell he can't be much worse, can he?
