He has a realistic shot at it. Awards like that don't go to the manager with the best season, they go to the biggest surprise. Name a bigger surprise in the AL than Seattle being ~10 games over .500

How many times should Pete have won Coach of the Year or Schneider Executive of the Year, but they're over shadowed by some surprise team with a worse record?
A manager of the year would have the M's 20 games over .500 by not bungling the pitching staff and bullpen as bad as Servais has this year, IMO.

probably gonna be LaRussa even though barf or they will justify giving it to Cora because of their turnaround

I think Scott has a better case than both of those guys. And yeah, LaRussa.. yuk.

The guy who managed last year's AL champions? Hardly the surprise candidate that often wins the award.
I think you can totally make a case for Cash. Easily the best team in the league in an offseason where they lost Renfroe, Loup, Morton and Snell among others. Payroll sitting at $70M which is 26th in MLB, less than half than that of the Astros, Red Sox, White Sox and almost a third of that of the Yankees, and yes even $12M less than the Mariners. Melvin, Cora, Boone and LaRussa are others I would put well ahead of Servais. And honestly if we're just looking at teams performing ahead of expectations then throw AJ Hinch into the mix because the Tigers sure are playing a hell of a lot better than anyone thought they would.

As an aside there were rumors several years back about the M's pursuing LaRussa for their vacant president position. Obviously there was zero substance to those rumors because why would the Mariners ever put an actual baseball guy in their front office, but damn it would have been nice to get a him in there instead of Kevin Mather.

Baseball is a weird game... and fun.
After the Astros did big brother things to these guys in previous meetings, they've shut out this POTENT in back to back games.

I'm convinced the M's could win the World Series and nothing positive would be said about the GM or Manager of this team around here.

Those guys absolutely earned extensions. You thought clubhouse morale was down after trading Graveman. Try explaining to the team why you let your GM and manager go after the season they're having.

They said the last time they were shut out in b2b games was in 2012... Impressive indeed... I was surprised Logan was the guy to do it... Thought they would've hammered him today since they were shutout yesterday...

Agreed... I thought a .500 season would've been a success with all these young guys trying to learn the game at the ML level...

It's called "what have you done for me lately" mentality. 20 years of playoffs drought will do this to some.
