Like I've said before PFF hates the guy. And all NFL teams utilize it. He's currently a "green" but that's on the strength of his four picks in two games stretch. He was consistently one of the lowest rated defensive players early in the season.

I just gotta think Wilks doesn't like him
From what I've seen from watching Schobert play, I will disagree with whatever PFF says. Dude's a very underrated player.

Has Mack Wilson been showing enough to feel confident in letting Schobert walk? Seems to me that they'd be better served to extend or tag Schobert. Homegrown guys like him are exactly what they should be retaining & building with.

No. To me the biggest hole in D is the other lb spot

They basically stay in a 4-2-5

Then letting Schobert walk would put a gaping hole in that defense. Not a fan of the 4-2-5... Puts too much strain on the LBs & midfield. Makes it all the more imperative to have guys like Schobert though. Have to wonder how good Schobert would look in a regular 4-3 base. Hell, even a mack or buck LB in a 3-4.

I am thinking they worry he isn't athletic enough idk. But yes it's probably a tough fit

Well there could be a lot of truth to that if Wilks is determined to make it a staple for their defense.

Going to piggyback here...

Hats off to the Ravens. Most dominant team the AFC has to offer and it isn't close (at the moment). Hope they can make a good push through the playoffs and hopefully represent the AFC better than any of the other pretenders.

Congrats to @blue_suns @Money @Oldschool739 , etc The division crown is yours to flaunt for the offseason! :suds:

Thanks Gentlemen, @ATL96Steeler , @Ojb81 , and @FaCe-LeE-uS ,very classy :yo:....
I was hoping the Steelers would make the post and possibly play us, don't know if possible though..
We still have to win 1 of our last 2 games to hold the #1 seed, or NE and KC would have to lose 1 of their last 2....I think !!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

This amazes me... This dude is a linchpin in that defense, and they are willing to part ways? I hope the Steelers are interested. He'd be an upgrade over Vince or Barron.

@Stakesarehigh what gives? I didn't think CLE would ever let this guy walk?

Flat out baller against the Steelers...best off the ball LB on the field that game in CLE.

Week 15 recap

BAL...12-2, W, 42-21. The Ravens clinched the AFCN DIV back to back years with a dominant performance over the Jets. Almost another ho-hum 5TD game for Lamar Jackson. He also rushed 8 times for 86 yds. They jumped on the Jets early and they were able to rest starters in the 4th Qtr. Currently the 1 seed, a win this week will lock up HFA thru out.

Week 16...@ CLE

PIT...8-6, L vs BUF 10-17. The Steelers got horrid QB play from Duck Hodges....4 INTs plus a fumble. Yet behind another solid effort on DEF, they were in this game late and were driving for a game tying score at the end. Not to be, the Bills DEF made it tough day also with constant pressure on the young QB. Still, with TN losing at home, PIT maintains a slim tie-breaker edge over TN, for the 6th spot.

Week 16 @ NYJ

CLE...6-8, L @ AZ 24-38. Week 15 only brought more frustration to a frustrating season for the Browns. The Cardinals jumped out to a 14-0 lead that they never relinquished. Actually they were running away with it up 38-17 at one point before CLE mounted one garbage time TD for the final margin. It's starting to look as if there will be some changes in CLE next year.

Week 16 vs BAL

CIN...1-13, L 13-34, The Bengals hung around for a half with the Patriots, but quickly lost ground in the 3rd Qtr as NE scored 14, one on a pick 6, and they added one more TD in the 4th to send the home crowd home with about 5 mins to go. CIN was able to run the ball, but 4 INTs and 5 turnovers total, the DEF that had a nice run going were put in some short field situations. The Bengals still have the #1 overall draft pick for next year, with 2 games to play...the next closet team(s) have 3 wins so one more L will lock it up.

Week 16 @ MIA

AFC at large...The 6th spot is a battle between TN and PIT now...Steelers have a 1 game edge in the conference record giving them the tie-breaker over the Titans. TN has NO and @ HOU to close. PIT is @ NYJ and @ BAL...CLE is the 8th seed with a 6-4 conference record but 6-8 overall. They lead both OAK, and IND.

Good stuff, ATL.

Bal - More of the same. They are still on top of their game. Not showing any signs of weakness as the postseason approaches. Lets see how the bye week impacts their momentum.

Pit - The loss didn't really hurt their playoff chances. They still control their own destiny with two games to play. Baltimore will likely be resting Lamar Jackson and I'm sure other starters will have a reduced role in week 17. This week's game against the Jets looms large.

Cle - They're just a bad team. They shouldn't be as bad as they are, but this is what they've put on the field for much of the year. If I were a Browns fan, I would be hoping for yet another coaching change.

Cin - Andy Dalton gave all Bengal fans a gift.... He made them stop fixating on missing out on Chase Young by reminding everyone that this team needs a new leader at qb. I think Zac Taylor needs help - Too many young coaches on his staff and his offense has been limited all year. Maybe an offseason will help him. Big game this week.... If the Bengals beat Miami, they'll be in good position to totally screw up their draft position. That would be such a Bengals thing to do.

BAL...they looked good as you would expect...I too am very curious to see how they look in the playoffs, but as I've said all year...the DEF is almost more impressive than Jackson...the combination of the two has to have Ravens fans thinking #3 is possible this season.

PIT...margin for error is razor thin. OFC needs to bear down this week on the road if they want to play in JAN

CLE...Browns drama: Players reportedly want out of dodge

Stuff like this pretty much ensures Kitchens will be a one and done HC. They went out there and got smoked actually.

CIN...spot on...As much as Chase Young would help that DL...Joe Burrow should be the pick. There is some trade value with Dalton though...may not be much, but his cap hit is not crazy for a stop gap starter. My point is I wouldn't cut him until I just had too.

I see Dalton going the way of Flacco.... Some team will decide to insert him as the starter while they wait for a better future plan. It didn't work too well with Flacco and Denver, but under the right circumstances I think Dalton could win some games. I could also see a Tannehil type situation - Maybe in Chicago.

Exactly...I thought for sure BAL would have to eat that contract or release him...CHI does seem like a good potential landing spot for Dalton....Maybe even OAK, Gruden seems to be souring on Carr.

He can play either...in a 34 I like him as a Buck, but I can see him playing the Mack. I wouldn't go all in on an off the ball LB, like the Jets did, but to keep a home grown player with that kind of production I would make the effort vs a rookie or another vet I don't know.

The Raiders are an interesting idea.... Dalton was basically hand-picked and groomed by Jay Gruden and there is probably at least a chance that Jay is on the Raiders staff next year. I'm not sure he gives you much more than Carr, but I understand why they're souring on him.

Carr really did need AB, or a true WR1. When your #1 targeted receiver is a TE, you definitely need help at WR. The 24th ranked OFC is largely due to the passing game...the rank 9th in rushing attempts, 12th in yardage. I can see Gruden going after a new QB this offseason and I don't think they want to open up the Vegas market with a rookie QB (unless he's the new franchise guy).

Chargers? You should not have a 20th ranked OFC with a vet QB of his stature on the roster. Rivers is a FA from my understanding. I know they're one year removed from being a 12 win team, so would they look at Dalton? Cheaper.

2 thoughts on the 6th seed after wins for Houston & New England...

  1. Steelers have to win out to control the 6th seed. Else they would need losses from Tennessee to counter their own losses.
  2. Houston clinching the division was not good for Pittsburgh. That means they have little to play for this week against the Titans other than bragging rights.
