Oh and for the record Sick. Smith had a great game. 70.8 comp % 8.33 per avg. 0 INTs. 109.7 QB rating.

especially considering the only time they looked to open up the offense smith put the ball into the end zone. then it was like the seattle game, grind it out with the run game. not a bad thing to do considerig the deadskins have no offense and orakpo would expose our pass protection if we tried to air it out.

Smith is playing as good if not better than Eli Manning the year the Giants won the Super Bowl. When you have a good team you don't need an elite QB and elite QB's don't always make or win the Super Bowl. I mean look how far the Jets got the last several years with Sanchez. The Bears even made the Super Bowl with Rex Grossmon.

Oops, posted the last few in the wrong thread.

LOL, when you said "Flacco missed a wide open Ed Dixon; could've had 30+ yards there." I thought you were being facetious (right term) by nitpicking other QBs like you thought people nitpicked Alex - but doing the nitpicking live.

Quit being a whiny little bitch. It's a fucking forum, if someone wants to write about Alex Smith doing good/bad every week, oh fucking well. The only thing old about it is you feeling the need to complain about "a new Alex Smith thread". Shut the fuck up and get over yourself.

Your welcome to everybody scared to tell this bitch to STFU cuz he's a "moderator".

LOL, tough guy. I'm scared.

I haven't seen Alex Smith is great threads every week. I see people going overboard to nitpick at him at every opportunity though.

Pointing out a couple bad passes as a deterrent to a great game. Yeah, get some help and get a new act because that shit is played out.

Nobody is going overboard. Stop overreacting. A guy started a thread stating Alex Smith was great today. Some people disagreed, saying that he looked decent, not great. No one is nitpicking, no one is going crazy. Actually, the only crazy part about this thread is that you feel obliged defend Smith at every single interval.

Smith didn't look great, he looked decent. Sue me.

You can't praise or critize Alex Smith.

Who's excited for more Alex Smith threads in 2012*?

:high5:

And you feel obliged to nitpick him at every single interval, not just this thread. It can't be pleasant to have so much disdain for a player. You have probably already entered Razzano territory.

this is something people fail to see and it might have to do with watching smith not perform up to expectations for the past few years.

we win with tough d and running. smith protects the ball and doesn't do anything stupid. but he has the ability as shown with his 4th qtr comebacks (even in bad years, some of his best moments were in comebacks) to move the ball very well. right now we seem to have the ability to punch people in the gut with the running game and then when dazed and confused smith can fling the ball down the field if needed.

Starting this week and going into the Baltimore and Pittsburgh games, the 49ers are going to need more out of Alex Smith than what they are currently getting if they are going to be competitive. He can do it but he is going to need some help from his receivers; they've got to run better routes and stop dropping so many balls. They have some guys who have talent but everyone of them is known for suspect hands; even Gore.

Agreed, but teams that play like that have got to put the ball in the end zone when they get down there. The 49ers seem to get stuffed down by the goal as evidenced by their one touchdown in the last six quarters against inferior teams. Who would not be ecstatic abut their 7 and 1 record, but they've got some growing to do on offense.

hunter's blocking is looking fairly good. hopefully it can free up davis a bit more which would be huge for the passing game.

I think that right now our modest passing game production has more to do with the receivers than alex. There is not a serious play maker in the bunch and they all have the droppsies. When was the last time a receiver took a short pass and broke it for a long td? Most good teams have one or two that can do that. I have seen none of these guys do it. Maybe Edwards has elsewhere but I am not that aware of his history.

It struck me again watching the packers yesterday. A-Rog is great but so is his receiving corp. he makes them look better but they make him look better too. Speedy, strong, big, elusive, and able to snag anything. I would say that is the biggest need the team has now, an A-1 playmaker at wideout.

A big need, yes, but I'd call it "1-B". To me, "1-A" is a quarterback. I don't want to disparage Smith, he is doing a good job this year, but we need improvement from that position to compete with the top teams.

You're an idiot.

That is all.

Nice way to backup that argument. Did you ever play sports? Pop Warner doesnt count!! You are the idiot Clyde, you go out of your way in every thread to dig at Alex. Shutup and enjoy the season. Maybe we should ask you what your definition of great is first?

Here's mine though you didn't ask me:

21 of 26, 247 yards, 4TDs and zero picks (Rodgers)
17 of 23, 244 yards, 3 TDs and zero picks (Moore)

If Smith gives me that, he gets the grade of "great" also.

IMO, Smith's performance was "good enough to win". Pretty good, but not great.
