Willie super UIF?

Thanks Murph. Yes meant Santana.

I would rather see someone else as regular at 1B. Think Santana best realistic spot to start is CF but I really doubt DDJ is starting there. If that is case then FO is planning to develop another year which I don’t think will be beginning of season mindset. Obvious logjam between OF and DH. While Willie may improve, would rather see him DH and part time OF. I don’t think IKF is our starting 3B next year.

Still a lot to see this season to figure out next season. Solar in equation too

Yes, and some opinions are more respected than others. BA is one of those that is respected. They discount us because of so many injuries. Had Ragans and Seise not gotten hurt it might be different with BA.

Just got back from Hot-Lanta and it sure looks like Luke Jackson has really found a home there........Washington too as a 3rd base coach. Right where he should be.

From Scott Lucas:

Scott Heineman was pulled after a 1st-inning homer last night and recalled today. He didn't need the drama, as he'd already made his MLB debut, but in any case he's back with the Rangers and starting at first base tonight. Joining him is reliever Phillips Valdez. Adrian Sampson was placed on the IL with back spasms, and reliever David Carpenter (who can't be optioned) was designated for assignment again.

Nick Solak is batting .432/.456/.730 during an 18-game hitting streak. Andy Ibanez is .388/.488/.672 during an 18-game on-base streak.

James Jones allowed three runs in the 9th. He has an slim chance at returning to the Majors this season, but the field is crowded. Pitchers off the 40 or on the 60-day Injured List under consideration (by me, if not necessarily upper management) include Jones, Joe Barlow, Demarcus Evans, Luke Farrell, Yo Mendez, and Edinson Volquez. On the hitting side, Nick Solak is the primary contender, and I suppose we could list potential 40 addition Eli White and past Major Leaguers Matt Davidson and Patrick Wisdom. The problem is that every addition to the 40 requires a corresponding removal (except the first one, courtesy of Carpenter). Such roster overhaul is uncommon but not unheard of; the Rangers designated five pitchers for assignment on or around September 1 in 2017. Even so, some players who arguably deserve a look aren't going to get one.

It is too bad we have given up so early on Joey Gallo at 3B. Having him there until Jung is ready could have freed up an OF spot so we could try more players out in the OF next season.

He lost his closer role for a while as he had blown 7 saves and did not pitch well in July but since just being a regular out of the pen in August he has done much better.

Can Allard, Palumbo and Burke be good enough for the next 6 weeks to convince the Rangers to count on them for the Opening Day roster next season? Would they count on all three of them?

Well glad Heineman gets a look see before Guzman called back up in September. Thinking they are limited the call ups per new rules

That is our hope as well as Hearn to be a factor at some point. We are going to have to cut bait on a few players hopefully in the next few weeks to make room for a few guys like Solak

Hearn would have been ahead of all of them, but he is well behind them now. He has to pitch healthy for a couple of months before they would even consider him I would think. Probably middle of next year at the earliest. Hopefully, by then, Phillips and Bahr will be right behind him.

Unless he gets hurt, there will something wrong if Solak isn't at 2B on Opening Day in 2020.

Murphy and Mac have a tough job making excuses for a bad Ranger team. Listening to them is almost painful.

'Almost' being the opperative word there I suppose..........But seriously, the Rangers have cultivated a culture of announcers who do 'Almost' nothing but haven't they?
