I'm hoping it's around 2M, but wouldn't be surprised to see something close to or over 3M. Let's face it, we might not think he's the best, but he's one of 2 puck moving dmen on the team, and 22:00m/g defensemen make 3M.

4 years @ $12 million.

I had wanted Greene to be a stop-gap until our prospects were ready for the NHL. I guess Lou has him penned in as a key piece for the future. He still needs to prove he can be more than a 7th defenseman when not playing for Lemaire.

I hope Lou has another card down his sleeve because the team now has a top 4 of greene/tallinder/volch/whitebeard with only whitebeard's contract ending within the forseeable future. that group sucked last year and wont be getting any better soon.

If greene can get a contract for loyalty the whitebeard surely deserves it for passing on injury insurance in order to attempt playing again.

I actually like this signing 3 mil is probably only slightly higher than market value if it all. Fuck jan hejda got 3.4

I think have Greene and Larsson is better than just one. Whether it be next season or down the road

If you want it to sound better, think of it this way:

When White signed his current 6yr/3 per deal he was taking up 6.8% of our total cap.

Greene with this 4yr/3 per deal is only taking up 4.7%

Lol I think it sounds pretty good as is, a lot of d men I don't think are as good as Greene signed for a good amount more than he did today

Frankly, Greene is going to need to improve from last year. Two years ago he had one of the hardest Qualcomps on the team and was a positive corsi player. Last year he trailed White and Tallinder by relatively significant margins in Qualcomp, and still had a negative effect.

I don't really like those stats there overkill in my opinion we all know last year was not his best. But if he pushes out a year like he did 2 years ago I'm.fully behind this

Totally agree. How can you hate Qualcomp?!?!? It's my third favorite stat behind OFO/UFO and RelCorsi+.

Hockey-metrics are the future!.

I keep going back and forth on this one. The cap going up as much as it did definitely helped though.

I totally agree that he needs to step it up now and be more consistent.

yeah im 50/50 on it...leaning towards it being a bad deal. 3 million is a lot for what he brings to the table

Im the exact opposite. price is OK. term is horrible

I'm not so sure that the term is the biggest issue since he's still young, I'm more concerned with the $$.

If he mirrors last year, then this will be an awful contract. They're obviously hoping that he can do what he did under Lemaire, in the second half, AND the year previous. We'll see. It's a risky contract, but even if we let him leave, who could we have replaced him with, w/o going the trade route. Also, he doesn't have any NTC/NMC clauses.

Also, he's better than White or Salvador, IMO, who will be gone next season anyway. I'd rather give Greene the 3M than have to give it to one of those two and have to overpay to keep them.
