Shesh, not one comment regarding this video on Dalton huh?

I am surprised. If it is not negative, not really worth commenting on I suppose.

It's dead around here.

I've been hit or miss lately and I bet a lot of people are on vacation or just following baseball right now. Kind of the "dead period" of NFL.

I was more interested in people commenting on what they had to say in the video about his accuracy and voice. If they think that means anything in the grand scheme of things, especially with the voice? Does that help make him a better leader, or is it just a silly stat?

Not interested so much in peoples opinion directly on Dalton, but more towards what they had to say in the video regarding Dalton versus other QB's.

the voice angle is interesting and not one i've ever thought of

i can't imagine it weighing too much on his leadership ability....but to keep the plays moving properly and have a better chance that everyone on the offense can hear the audibles can't hurt

Typically, communication is not an issue on the football field. And when it is, it's usually due to a very loud stadium and not something that can be corrected by speaking louder, but being better versed with hand signals and the silent count. I wouldn't put too much stock into it.

As for the accuracy, he was pretty good at hitting an open target within 20 yards, but struggled in traffic. Hitting 32/36 wide open isn't surprising, nor does it mean much.

I also think stadium noise is not much of an issue anymore. For one thing, most stadiums fill the middle with luxury and box seating where many of the fans are older and often times hanging out in the club. Even traditionally strong, loud fanbases don't carry too much weight in modern stadiums. And as Rey points out, teams are also much more sophisticated with hand signals, presnap reads and silent counts.

But does it help with Dalton giving a hard count to draw the defense offsides? (Nice thing is...Dalton doesn't take a f'n knee when drawing the defense offsides, he actually trys to take advantage of his free play, he is not a chicken shit to get hurt if someone decides not to block.)

Does it help the offense take off when the ball is snapped because they know the snap count and can hear it better?

Does it help bring better attention to Dalton while in the huddle leaving little to no doubt who is in charge?

I would say no, no, and no.

He would make a great cheerleader though.

its an interesting tidbit of info, but I don't think qb's get drafted into the NFL if their players can't understand what they are saying.

The decibels of his voice is higher than anyone they have ever measured before, not his coherency. Not sure what that has to do with this at all.

That hard count could potentially draw guys off sides. Not sure how that is not simply understood, but okay.

nearly every QB in the NFL is sufficient in this area.
it's not a big deal.

I would completely disagree. Some of the greats were great at that, and someone that was one of the best was our very own Boomer Esiason. Between drawing defenders off side with his hard count and performing a PA pass (camera men always looked stupid trying to film Esiason games), he was pretty awesome. Palmer was average I would say. I have not see Andy do this too much, as of yet, but I like the fact when he does draw someone offsides, he is willing to throw one up to potentially make something out of it rather than taking a f'n knee.

I would say Tim Tebow is horrid at this, drawing guys offsides (at least that is my opinion of him from watching him since I have no stats to back me up).
