Mike Brown has confidence in Andy Dalton, but no extension in 2019

ESPN Bengals reporter Katherine Terrell doesn't see Andy Dalton as an extension candidate this offseason.
Terrell believes the team would prefer to "wait and see" how Dalton adjusts to Zac Taylor's new offense before making a long-term commitment. Dalton got off to a hot start in 2018 but faded as injuries decimated his receiving corps. Even at his best, the TCU alum has never been much more than a league-average starter. Our own Josh Norris has the Bengals using a second-round pick on Duke QB Daniel Jones in his latest mock.

ANDY DALTONQB, CINCINNATI BENGALS

Bengals owner Mike Brown said they want Andy Dalton to re-establish himself before talking about an extension.
Dalton's current deal runs through 2020, but the Bengals could easily get out of it next spring if they so choose, suggesting this is a make-or-break season. Dalton and the offense were actually playing well last season before injuries began to mount, and new coach Zac Taylor recently said he has "full belief" in the quarterback. With A.J. Green back healthy, it would not be surprising if Dalton has a good year.
