Oh I agree but some of saddles’ 18 aren’t going to be released or traded. At least 6 will still be on the team
What 6 do you think will remain?

I would think Arihara, White, Ibanez and Peters have the best chance of sticking around.

It really all depends on how many prospects need to be added and on how some of these guys do the rest of the year.

Some will be put through waivers and then return, but not be on the 40-man.

As JTA put it, there is a lot of cannon fodder on the roster that would not need to be kept. Some might be, but there is no real long term need to keep them.

Bottom line, we shouldn't have to expose any decent to great prospects, to the Rule 5 draft this winter.

We are currently at 1.3 for next year's draft. Maybe, by the end of August it will be a two team race and then we can have the whole month of September to catch the Diamondbacks.

Some of what we consider cannon fodder management may think otherwise

And then, some of what we consider a certainty to stick, may be considered cannon fodder to management.

I would expect them to think otherwise about every one of those guys currently or they wouldn't be here right now.

Within about 4 months they will have to make decisions about which fodder they have to jettison and which fodder they will hang on to. There is a whole lot of wiggle room though.

Is this kid expected to go #1 a "can't miss?"

Young has shown a willingness to cut bait with non-performers, so I'm not concerned thus far

Folty is probably the one veteran exception, but who knows what the rationale is, but he's not really keeping a rotation spot from a young guy as of now,

Alexy has yet to make to make his first AAA start and has pitched a grand total of 50 innings this year, none last year, and an ugly 27 in 2019... kid needs time

I read the other day that if Elijah Green could have made himself eligible this year, as a junior in high school, that he would have went #1 this year.

The point being... there's room for Jung this year and wiggle room to fit Rule 5 eligible guys if and when the time comes
I agree but unless we don’t resign our FA’s and DFA at least 7 or 8 at the off season we will struggle to find room

Probably another genius move by JD to delay the rebuild to get into better drafts. Dude is amazing.
He has certainly got that delaying-greatness thing down to an art. Lol
