Tony appeared for like 5 minutes. Said all titles are vacant and then left without giving a reason as to why. Pretty freaking lame.

There's apparently legal ramifications to the story. I wouldn't expect them to reference it directly

No to Russo under any circumstances. Keep that guy away from any product. I’d probably quit watching wrestling again if he came into AEW.
Of course that was in jest, but he was good with doing Jerry Springer shit and what happened what more entertaining than Jerry Springer could ever have been

I appreciate them not incorporating it into a story (at least not yet). It's the right move to move onto something else right now and let things settle. But it was pretty lame to address the "why" at all. A simple "Due to an altercation after All Out, I've been forced to vacate..." would suffice. Just saying "I had to vacate the titles". If you just watch the show and don't follow all the stuff online (and I'm sure there's a decent chunk of the audience that does), you'd have no idea wtf was going on.

They might be a little gun shy since he's got an injury history of his own, but I hope they put the title on Danielson. Mox is definitely worthy and that promo tonight showed why (he's for sure the Ace of AEW), but I think a new face up top would work right now given the circumstances. Put the title on Danielson, let him have banger title match defenses for a couple of months, and then put it on MJF some time towards the end of the year

I'm really sympathetic to Punk's POV. Personal life stuff was brought into an on air feud without his permission. It corresponded with leaks to the newsletter guys (many of whom have close relationships to the Elite) that he had another coworker demoted. The on screen home grown babyface is the one cutting the promos on him as a real-life heel. That hurts the Punk brand as he’s also a babyface trying to sell tickets and T shirts. When he's clearly full of piss and vinegar and adrenaline at the end of a PPV mainevent people break into his lockerroom to stir shit up.

If this is a work I got my popcorn ready. If it's a shoot I'm team Punk all the way
You kind of have to be sympathetic to Punk regardless of his actions. How long has he sat on the Colt Cabana stuff. Truthfully I had only heard the one side so just thought Punk was an asshole friend (cause it wasn’t ever really disputed by Punk). Problem is you can’t get rid of your top star nor can you really alienate 90% of the people who regularly watch AEW. I was stoked to watch tonight then it is back to blah.

I'd be shocked if it's anyone but Danielson but I think a transitional title reign for Darby would be very cool. Darby with a brief title reign then MJF until at least the next All Out

Given the promos, they seem like they want to go with Mox vs MJF with Mox as the guy that represents everything that is AEW and MJF as the guy out for himself that wants to use it further himself. It can work if its a longish program, maybe at Full Gear but if you could push it to the end of the year, that'd be better imo. I just think it doesn't really help things much if they put the title on Mox again just to take it off him again a short time later. You run the risk of making Mox just the "break glass in case of emergency" guy.

Danielson would have no problem with a short reign. He's said in the past that he's not really interested in championships anymore (going back to his time in WWE) and more just wants to wrestle and put young guys over. It won't "damage" Danielson at all to have the title for 2 months and then put MJF over. In fact, it enhances everyone involved. Danielson gets another trophy in case, AEW gets all the interest from having a top star in Bryan Danielson with the belt, and then MJF gets a boost from beating a guy like Danielson for his first reign.

It makes me vomit that a tiny hippy like him is now called a “top star”

I assume it's Danielson because Moxely just had an Interim and Offical title run and I don't think they would go back to him as champion this quickly. I thought they went with Mox and MJF to open the show because it was a big moment and those are the two most charismatic promos in the company with Punk out. I saw that as a necessity move rather than foreshadowing

I agree Danielson would have no issue with a short title reign and he obviously has no issue putting anyone over. I just think a brief title reign does much more for Darby than either Danielson or Moxely.

For anyone who doesn’t get it, CM Punk’s camp is saying The Elite broke in to his dressing room and assaulted him, and The Elite’s camp is saying they went in there calmly and CM punk just went crazy on them and Kenny Omega had to save Larry the dog.

Fwiw, the Bucks side is more believable when there's a few reports saying they showed up with the head of AEW's legal department and with Christopher Daniels (head of talent relations). Kinda hard to believe you're kicking doors down to start fights when you show up with the company's top lawyer.

I think just like anything the truth is somewhere in the middle. But one thing I think everyone is overlooking is it wasn’t three wrestlers going in to confront Punk, it was three officers of the company. Obviously one or both of the Bucks got close enough to get hit by Punk and so unless Punk charged a room full of people one by one they all played a part in the fight. They should have been trying to calm the situation down instead of escalating it, due to their EVP status they’re above Punk in terms of the company hierarchy and so no matter what why are 3 executives trying to pick a fight with a contracted talent?

This is a convo you don’t have that night if you’re showing up as an evp

How though? Punk just shit all over the Bucks, so he is going to wait in the locker room waiting for them to show up? Not saying Punk’s version is correct but not sure how his isn’t closer to the truth especially considering every physical fight story involving Punk involves him losing.

But a smart ass remark is how could Punk sue anyone since Chicago is a mutual combat city and he did call them out.
