rep'd

He reminds me of that guy in Aliens played by Bill Paxton...*screaming* "I don't know if you've been keeping up on current events but we just got our assess kicked in there man!"

Exactly. Would our best wr, Crabtree, start for GB, NYG, or NE? Would he be number 3? Number 4?

Watching those teams just shows how p*ss-poor our wr corp is. Weak, really really weak.

It's a fair question, but it's also worth noting that two of our would-be top-three guys going into the season are injured (Morgan) and off the team (Edwards). Not to mention that Walker is out and Ginn has been injured. This last game did emphasize the lack of weapons in the receiving game, though.

Re: the Pats, I don't think they have great receivers at all. Welker is great. Branch defines a system player. After that...Ochocinco seems done. Edelman screams system player to me. I'm not even sure who their other receivers are. They are basically two-deep at WR, they just have great TEs.

I feel your pain Z. I posed a similar question back in late Oct(?) about Crabtree starting for GB and received some interesting responses, and that was before his run of markedly improved performance.

I am hoping Crabs performance this past Saturday was just nerves and he steps up big vs. the Giants; we will need him (and the others) to because Vernon will be bracketed all day long.

At the end of the day, however, I completely agree with you. Right now we have one hot mess at the WR position - a lot of potential but no threats.

But those two, Morgan and Edwards, were no great shakes. Morgan has been here 4 years? Is he a game breaker? Has he had one play in all that was as good as the two made in one game yesterday by a Giants receiver? No. Crabtree same story, no game breaking ability.

Repeat: our WR is very very weak. They don't scare anybody. It will be interesting how we do against the G's, as they will try like hell to take away vernon.

Alot of talk about Crabtree this week and being an X factor, but i think Williams could be that guy this week. Especially if Ginn cant go. He hasnt shown up much as of late and he himself had a bad PI call and dropped ball. He just could have a good game. Didnt he score last time againt Giants?

Agreed! We need Crabs, Ginn & Williams to get open Sunday or Smith is going to be seeing alot of blue sky; or, Gore & Hunter are going to be asked to make a lot of tacklers miss.

Davis had the receiving TD vs. the Giants
Williams had receiving TDs vs. DAL, ARI & STL

KW did score against the Giants(or am i think cowboys? which i know he did)

Crabtree will get a pass from me but he's definitely behind right now in terms of stepping it up and being ready to execute/play/perform in the playoffs vs the rest of his teammates.

Honestly I would've thought and believe it would been Alex to show the jitters and trigger finger more so than anyone due to the spotlight and stage. But he played it very well and calm and his dimeanor is focused/ and his confidence is unbreakable right now. freaking luv it!

I agree, Alex passed his first playoff test with flying colors - I could not be happier for him!
K-Dub's TD's came vs. DAL, ARI & STL

Morgan has developed into a solid, mid-level, possession, move-the-chains type WR, which is critical to our offensive philosophy. So I would not call him weak at all.

I would love to have a bonafide league #1 type WR and 3 or 4 Joshua Morgans (some with more speed of course) ;)

He reminded me of a player that waits patiently for the opportunity to prove that: "If you give me the chance I'll prove it to you!" And boy did he.

our line is one of the worst in the league. it shows up bigtime in our inability to pick up the blitz and get any sort of push on the goal line. guys arent getting beat 1v1 as much now, but we still have pass rushers going untouched blowing up the pocket.

I agree our goal-line blocking schemes simply do not work, but to say our O'Line is one of the worst in the league is just patently false. Even if you remove our run blocking from the equation and look at it strictly from a protection stand point we are far from the worst.

our sack totals say we are one of the worst. the amout of unblocked pass rushers mean we're one of the worst. having the pocket collapse from the inside out makes us one of the worst.

our line is bottom percentile in the league. which is the definition of one of the worst

Sacks are not solely the responsibility of the line.

Smith's INTs are down and his sacks are up, I think some of that has to do with putting the ball away and taking the sack rather than forcing a throw.

a lot of plays get blown up before they get going. that is why the sack total is up. skill position players don't even have a chance when plays are getting blown up with regularity.

they're functional at the moment, the first few games of the year they were horrible. a good chunk of plays don't even have a chance because of the line. it's a good thing we don't have to play our d this year
