Looks like the Yankees have the edge today with Cortes 12-4, 2.44. Yankees lost his start vs Guardians in game 2 ALDS last Friday losing it in extra innings. He beat Cleveland 5-4 in April, giving up 1 hit and 2 ER in 6 innings. Cortes is pitching on 3 days rest.

Civale lost his two starts this season vs Yankees 6-1 and 10-2. He did have a 12-5 record in 2021.

I wouldnt look into Civale much. Unless he totally tanks immediately(possible).

Cause hes not gonna throw many innings.

I think Bieber starts warming nearly immediately. They see how much they can get from him, and go to elite pen for a lot of innings by rested arms.

I agree, each team will go with their best as long as they can last.

I'm wearing a shawl to the game today.......

You're going to the game? Good deal.

What you should do is make a big sportshoopla sign and take it to the game.

Astros are a wagon regarless. You gotta play to get to them.

They should 100% throw Bieber if he thinks he can go. If Bieber can be effective for 4 or hell 5 innings. You hand off the the fully rested pen and have a 10 inning game easily covered in the sense of viable arms.
I don't like starting on him short rest but I could be fine with 2-3 innings. Civale and/or Sandlin a couple innings than bring in the A BP guys.

If Civale can go 2-3 I would be fine with that but if it gets out of hand early it could likely mean a quick exit. Fine with Biebs going 2-3 innings but nothing more unless he looks unhitable but even then short rest is always risky imo

It is my aunt's birthday and she lives in Cleveland, been a fan of the guardians for longer than the name has been around. For the first time in my life I did not like wishing her a happy birthday.

But you did and that’s all that matters.

Say hi to her for me. Go Indians!

The weather is beautiful today. Perfect fall day
yah its clear but its like 50- not great weather to be going on technically al ittle less than even normal short rest. It is not likely an injury occurs- but short rest on a cold day seems like its more likely then usual. Guardians usually shy away from that.

I mean- i dont know how it is for Cortez- but Bieber had a pretty serious shoulder injury last year- his velocity is still down- and he only really got going in the 2nd half of the year.

With this young team- I dont think they want to risk their ace- whether they intend to resign him, just keep him- or deal him. Plus- its the kind of thing that gives them a good reputation with other players around the league. Organizationally- its much more of a "must win" for the Yankees.

all the players that come to Cleveland usually rave on what a first class organization it is and how they treat everyone- the communication, etc.

and it comes down to- do you trust Terry Francona and what he knows and his staff knows?

It would surprise me if Bieber pitches- and if he does pitch- there is no way its more than 2 innings.

Like you said- I think the only way Bieber pitches is if Civale tanks early.- which like you said- entirely possible.
