I don't think anyone is betting on it to stay that ridiculously high, but then his batted ball exit velocity last year was atrocious too. Ian Kennedy is a fine candidate for a bounce-back on a one-year deal. Not that draft pick + 70 million dollar monstrosity that KC gave up to get him.

Considering their major hole at 2B they would've been better off just paying Zobrist or going for Desmond and bargain hunting the SP market.

You guys do understand this is just simple math right?

It's not about Pujols really. It's simply a subtraction of his expected production over the next X years of his deal vs. the dollar outlay the Halos will be paying him.

Wheres the love for this bum:suds:21 mil to be a back up OF

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports is hearing the Dodgers could make Carl Crawford available in a trade this offseason.
Once a perennial All-Star and among the best all-around outfielders in baseball, Crawford has faded into mediocrity while battling injuries the last several seasons. Teams probably won't be lining up for a 34-year-old who batted .265 last year. Crawford's exorbitant salary will make it even harder to move him.

Carl Crawford was the price for Adrian Gonzalez. I thought everyone knew that.

Pujols with a .708 OPS, .306 wOBA, and a 95 wRC+, good for a -0.3 WAR (9th worst in baseball) in 298 PA.

Earning $25 million dollars

Ricky Nolasco: 4.42 ERA/4.14 FIP and 2.5 WAR in 197.2 IP. 12 million dollars/1 year left on the contract.

Albert Pujols: .268/.323/.457 with a pedestrian 111 wRC+ (at least for DH's) and a 0.9 WAR. 140 million dollars/5 years left on the contract.

Discuss whose contract is worse.

Nolasco is technically a bargain if he's really wroth 2.5 war.

Honestly wish the Sox undid the Pomeranz trade and went and got a guy like Sauce here in August.

Yeah I’ll wear this one.

Sauce had an awful yeAr.

But still 2.5 war is worth like 20 mil in this day and age.

I'm assuming Sauce is Nolasco? If so, he has an 86 ERA+ over the last 9 seasons. He had 2.6 fWAR per Fangraphs last year, but his ERAs have always been higher than his FIP/xFIP.
