Soler doesn't have any option years left - the Cubs burned two and the Royals used the third. He'd have to go on the IL and sent on a rehab assignment to work on things in the minors.

I do, Doval was better (most of last year) than Weezy ever was. He has the stuff to figure it out.

It is dumb - "Starter, you cannot go 5 innings? Okay, well, we will give a win to the pitcher who immediately replaces you even though he only goes 1 inning."
This rule made a lot more sense when even mediocre pitchers would go at least 7 innings a start. Manfred loves him some rule changes. Why hasn't he tackled this one?

If you are thinking of a Jose Abreu type situation, he had an option year left. The Astros still had to ask his permission.
