Would have rather held onto Scherff honestly, even if they weren't able to find room for him on the 40 man.

Chavis dealt to Pitt for bullpen piece Austin Davis

Chavis felt like a redundant use of a roster spot, so I'm glad that's over with. Davis is whatever.

I would have liked to see the Sox get a starter and reliever, but they did get a good bat in Schwarber. Where he'll fit in on the roster is another question of course.

Mets needed Bryant in the worst way. So, of course, they end up with a loser like Baez instead. The Mets are a joke.

Sox had no clear plan at this deadline and it really shows. Hope they have enough in-house and with Sale coming back. Not sure on that.

Shaughnessy sucks, but not sure he’s wrong here.

I'm not thrilled with the Red Sox deadline moves, but I don't think them standing somewhat pat necessarily means there's a lack of confidence in the roster. And they still traded for Schwarber, even if there is uncertainty as to where he'll play exactly. I imagine Sale's potential return played a role as well. It's easy to forget that this was supposed to be a rebuilding year and this team only needs to go 27-31 to reach 90 wins. I'm fine with the Sox not emptying the farm for rentals.

Is Voit still here?

Last I saw of him, he was in a BMW commercial……not sure they could move him, I think they were definitely trying……He must be thrilled…..

Why “fuck”? The Blue Jays are fighting with the Yankees(and others) for the 2nd wildcard slot(most likely). Doesn’t have much impact on the Red Sox.

Maybe. But I remember 2011 pretty well.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that Kyle Schwarber (hamstring) is drawing trade interest.

Schwarber has been on the IL since July 3 due to a severe right hamstring strain and is still probably a couple weeks away from returning to live action, but he was on a near-historic home run streak before the injury and would fit with a wide range of contending clubs. Heyman notes that the Yankees "have always liked him."
