PS- Alex Verdugo has never had a good season as a pro

Gleyber is 2 years younger and Verdugo will prob never touch his best season

smells like a Spanish Brett Gardner
LMAO. That’s a good line, but you are not close here. Verdugo had a 126 OPS+ last year and finished 12th in MVP voting. He just turned 25! I wouldn’t write him off yet.

Gleyber is a mystery man. Not sure what to think on him. Did he peak at 22? Regardless, his 1HR and 10 RBI at the 1/4 mark of the season are mighty impressive.

Lol

Alex Verdugo had 6 HR and 15 RBI last season in a league that has become all about the HR

What did you think of his .367OBP? He’s not a power guy. He’s a table-setter. The Yankees’ model of every guy having to hit 40HR’s while not being able to move has killed your ability to evaluate baseball players properly.

Francisco Lindor is batting .190 and looks completely lost

coming off a terrible season that everyone chalked up to “shortened Covid season that doesn’t matter”

the contract never made sense, the Mets had all the leverage, even if Lindor had an MVP season, he probably wasn’t seeing a contract richer than the one the Mets gave him

This could be filed in that worst contract in baseball department soon

Dodgers led baseball in Homeruns last season

the top 6 HR teams of 2019 were in the playoffs

it’s a homerun league, I don’t like it, the league BA is .230, but the launch angles and all that shit is what teams want now

How many 45HR and 120RBI seasons do you expect from Torres btw?

He has a 38 HR season already, and is 2 years younger than Verdugo

so if Verdugo at 25 and been nothing better than an average player is gonna be a star, I guess sky is the limit for Gleyber

I’ll get excited about Verdugo when he has one season better than Brett Gardners best

It really is a shitty product. Pretty unwatchable. Luckily I’m able to watch with the DVR. I don’t know how anyone sits through a full game(in any sport, really) without the DVR.

Yeah baseball especially, it’s a tough watch

I quickly tuned into Cards Pods last night and was like OMG that’s enough, after one at bat

I’m not sure why Gardner is the barometer here, but I’ll play along. Gardner’s best OPS+ was 120(in 2012). Verdugo beat that last year. And Gardner never had even a single MVP finish in the top 20. Verdugo already has that, too. I’d say Verdugo has cleared your “Gardner bar” with ease.

Michael Kay made a good point

the Yankees have handled Stanton like a piece of China, not playing the field, days off, etc

if he’s gonna get hurt anyway, just put him in the OF, open up the DH spot, stop treating him like a sensitive child

I can’t sit through a football game in real time, either, unless I’m in a room full of people. Too many stoppages. Too many commercials. I can’t do it.

Because the whole plan is to have him for October. Do you really care that he missed a few games against Baltimore and Texas in May? Big picture.

Gardner has a 28 HR 75 RBI season out of the lead off spot

He has scored 80+ runs 9 times
90+ 6 times

Verdugos season high in runs scored is 43 batting near the top of the majors 2 best lineups

let’s pump the brakes sailor

I guess the point is the chances of getting hurt aren’t increased or decreased regardless of how careful you are, so if it balances the team more to have him in the OF and get someone like Frazier or Gardner to the bench, just do it, it doesn’t make a difference healthwise

We’ll keep an eye on this one. Gardner didn’t even get to the Majors until he was 24. And he didn’t crack double digits in HR for the first time until he was 30.

It’s going to be a fun 23 years until the end of that contract. That is for sure.

I was actually surprised myself to see Gardner has had a nice career. You could do worse than having a player like that

not a star but a nice piece in a power laden lineup

like the Spaniard version in Boston

He’s not my type of player but to be fair, he’s had a 40/102 season for the Yanks and one pretty incredible October. And if this is a short term injury, he will prob put together a pretty impressive season this year

again I don’t like him, but this hasn’t been Chris Davis by any stretch

interesting stat at age 27 both davis and stanton led the league in homers and rbis
2017 for stanton 59/132
2013 for davis 53/138
