This is the Yanks chance to get right back into the hunt. You play the Stos & White Sox for 6 this week at home. We really need to go 5-1 or 6-0.

5-1 would put us at 68-60.

Detroit is in Tampa and Toronto is in Milwaukee so we should be able to make up/gain a game or 2 on those 2 by thursday.

Seattle is on the east coast for 6. Can't see them doing better than 4-2

We need to be 1.5 or 2.5 at most back come next sunday night

They were already an exterme long shot since the All Star break. I think it was in this thread that their negative run differential was mentioned. It would hae been very difficult to maintain their wpct by giving up more runs that runs scored. Good luck does run out.

But, they still have a 2.7% chance at the playoffs - and that is better than six other teams!

it was only a matter of time until McCarthy's stat line would improve. He's brought his ERA down from 5.01 to 4.01 after 8 starts with the Yankees. His FIP and xFIP sit at 3.34 and 2.78. Expect that ERA to continue to drop.

Great buy low trade by the Yanks IMO. Nuno's been pretty decent with the D-Backs so far, but given McCarthy's peripherals and track record, I'd rather have him going forward.

Maybe it is just me, but it suspiciously looked like he was making a bunch of "mistake pitches" which marred otherwise decent looking pitching, thus the xFIP/FIP gap prior to the trade- park factor or no park factor.

Losing... the Twins putting up touchdowns in two innings tonight. Need new kicker he missed PAT in second forced them to go for 2 in 6th.
