Lester to Oakland

How do you trade your clean up hitter when you already had a stack rotation?

Cleanup hitter or not, Cespedes was Oakland's 5th best hitter this year.

Norris, Moss, Jaso, Crisp and Donaldson all have a higher wRC+ than Cespedes. His defense is pretty damn good though.

Not trying to justify the trade or anything, Cespedes seems like too much for a 2 month rental of Jon Lester IMO.

That is why they threw in Gomes and cash....

The 2015 raft pick Boston gets is a bonus - probably because they cannot make a QO on Cespedes after his deal...

Has a GM for a losing team ever won GM of the year?

Red Sox acquired LHP Eduardo Rodriguez from the Orioles for LHP Andrew Miller.
Ben Cherington continues to have an outstanding day. Boston held out for a top prospect in Miller negotiations, and they finally got one from a rival. Rodriguez was recently ranked by MLB.com as Baltimore's No. 3 prospect. "Initially more of a command-and-control lefty, Rodriguez has grown into his lanky frame and has seen his velocity jump as a result," the site's scouting report reads. "He now throws his fastball in the low 90s, with good sink and movement. Rodriguez pairs his fastball with a hard changeup and a tight slider, both of which grade out as above-average offerings." Rodriguez projects as a middle-of-the rotation starter.:suds::suds:

If he can trade Stephen Drew in the next half hour, he should get Executive of the year!

Red Sox are trading Stephen Drew to the Yanks for Kelly Johnson. Salary dump and allows Bogaerts to move back to SS.

Looks like 2 of the Aces in the division (Lester to Oakland and Price to Detroit) have been dealt to the other AL divisions. I don't believe that there's really any true Ace pitchers left in the division to my knowledge right now.

Boston is tanking, but like their deals. Yankees added 2 garbage players, Rays got nothing for Price(shocked about this one), O's think they have enough to win.

Prado to the Yankees

hate this move. 11 mill for the next 2 years for a Utl player. Don't understand this move. Then we trade Kelly for Drew, where Kelly was playing a little better then Drew. Positive is Drew gives us better defense.
