Sox gone into season over mode Give the youngsters a chance:suds:

Christian Vazquez - C - Red Sox
Red Sox recalled C Christian Vazquez from Triple-A Pawtucket.
The Red Sox are committed to going young from here on out, as they've designated A.J. Pierzynski for assignment and will give Vazquez a shot. Vazquez is known more for his defense than his offense, but the 23-year-old has put up a respectable .279/.336/.385 batting line with three homers at Pawtucket this season. He should receive most of the playing time behind the dish but isn't a great fantasy option.

out with the old:suds:

Jen Royle of the Boston Herald reports that the Angels are a "potential suitor" for Jake Peavy.
Royle says that the Halos could be searching for a starter due to Jered Weaver's back issue. It doesn't seem like Weaver will be out long, but the Angels nevertheless would make some sense as a landing spot for the veteran right-hander. Peavy is also reportedly drawing interest from the Cardinals and Braves.

What is up with Tanaka lately? Need a little insight. Would prefer is OBX or Baller answered. CSD has homer glasses.

Is it run support? Tipping pitches? Just a rough stretch. What are you guys seeing?

Steven Wright is minor league filler. He's also turning 30 at the end of August.

Just good timing with the All Star break... He would have played in the ASG, which would have pushed his next start back a few days anyway. They're giving him a few extra days off before the real grind of the season.

Don't buy into the elbow soreness hype... yet...

Huge win for the Yankees last night in 14 innings. and how about the pitching!? Only 1 ER to 14 IP. The bullpen was lights out, I was impressed.

If they win tonight and then take 2 of 3 in Baltimore, they'll be in great shape.

Excellent point Steve, at least this happened with the All Star break upon us. It wasn't until this injury that I found out Japanese pitchers are on a different schedule. so Tanaka pitching more than usual is obviously what caused this. Something his arm will need to adjust to I guess.

Your posts are a must read so I don't blame him..

AJ was JDM. It is all making sense now. No wonder everybody hated JDM. Bastard was debating from the dugout.

Tanaka is out 6 weeks with a small tear.

Best case scenario: Back to pitching in the majors in 6 weeks

Worst Case scenario" Rehab does not work and TJ surgery would be needed:L

If I were a Red Sox fan, I wouldn't be all that upset at losing him. I think he probably doesn't have much of anything left in the tank and will retire soon anyways.

As for the O's, I'm still baffled as to how they are at 50-41 right now. The only partial conclusion I can come up with is that even though there are quite a bit of issues, all of the other teams in the division are struggling with multiple things as well. I'm certainly not complaining but from the games I've seen, they look more like a .500 club.
